So New Vegas ends...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:54 am

So when the end credits roll. If you were The Courier, what would you do with your life from that point on?

I'd live as Mr. Houses advisor/aid, going to Aces theater to watch some of the musicians, and on the rare occasion I'd want for it, I'd go wastelanding and take memory of my old adventures.

Depends on my affiliation.

If I fought for the NCR:

I would offer my services as an off-the-books soldier to the NCR. Judging by my sterling reputation with them, I could make a killing (heh pun). I'm sure I'd either end up retiring a wealthy man or end up lying face down in a pool of my own blood.

If I fought for the Legion:

I would probably try to work my way to become the right-hand man of Caesar so when the time came, I could assassinate him and take control. Bowing to tradition, I would adopt the title "Caesar" and start a campaign in the East in the attempt to eventually forge Caesar's Legion into a continental empire.

If I fought for House:

I'd be sitting pretty in Vegas and rolling in caps. What else would there be to do?

If I fought alongside Yes-Man:

I'd start my own nation. The Vegas Confederacy. I'd annex outlying territories through shrewd business tactics but leave them relatively independent. I wouldn't want them to be too closely affiliated with me though. That way, if they become a problem, I can just cut them loose and let them suffer until I could regain control. I'd use Yes-Man as a diplomat of sorts since he couldn't really be killed.

Peel off House's corpse from his pod and throw it off one of the lucky 38 onto the unsuspecting celebrators of the 2nd Hoover dam victory.

Hmmm.
I thought about this after my first playthrough and I decided there's no way I could stay in Vegas.
I would eventually end up bonkers like old Allistair Tenpenny and hanging out on the balcony sniping people at random.
Nope, I'd have to travel the Wasteland.
I think maybe I'd head in to Cali and see what the "civilized" areas look like and then make my way north up the coast. I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like up here in the Pacific Northwest.

Ummm... That's not what this thread's about. It's about what you would do if you were the main character after you finished the final quest.

I'd be like, "Welp, my job here is done." and head off to Chicago. Simple as that.

I'd also consider heading down to Texas, but along the way I'd be hoping that whatever was presented down there in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is not actually down there. :unsure2:

I supported House, so I think I'd pretty much loaf around the Strip making snowglobes or something. Other than a bit of charity work here and there, I'd also probably spend a ton of caps on pretty clothing, and generally just spoil myself. *is horribly useless*

I'd probably catch up with my companions though, and maybe travel with them a bit if they wanted me to. YAY SOCIAL LIFE!
...N-not that Rex and Boone make up much of a social life, but ha, no one needs to know who my friends are!

I'd make an alliance with the Followers of the Apocalypse and the Kings. I would use Vegas's resources to help the Followers educate the citizens of the Mojave and have the Kings help the Securitrons with law enforcement. Then I would try to recruit skilled people from all over the wasteland, regardless of their past affiliations, to come to Vegas and work for me. Then I would try to make alliances with other technologically advanced factions like the Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave Remnants, Vault City, the Shi, assuming they still exist. With all the scientists and engineers I've recruited, I would make the study of Vault 22 and HELIOS One top priorities to ensure that Vegas has the food and energy to stay independent and self sufficient.

Well, my NCR soldier would get that promotion he wanted. Lt. Colonel. Helluva thing, that.

He'd probably take some much-needed leave after the whole situation at the Dam... head back out to NCR and visit his wife and kids. Depending on whether or not they decided to keep him at McCarran, he'd probably move them all out to Vegas. Seems like that would be the prudent thing to do if he thought he was going to be sticking around for a while.

Otherwise, who knows? With the President dead... maybe it's time for -another- war hero to make a bid for the election?

*nudge nudge, wink wink*

---

My independent courier-girl kept Benny around... so once she took over, the majority of running things was left to him. She just spent most her time relaxing at The Tops, occasionally popping in downstairs to socialize with the guests. Benny didn't screw things up too badly... but only because he had a sound adviser to help him out with some of the more complicated things.

They were widely regarded as the strangest pair in Vegas history.

When Benny eventually got ill (lung cancer, from all his smoking), Karen did the merciful thing and put him out of his misery once the pain got too bad. Nobody saw her again, after that. She just packed up her bags, and left.

---

Warren Pierce, a Powder Ganger-turned-slaver-turned-rogue, eventually found himself ambushed by a squad of NCR Rangers. Although he had weakened the Legion significantly, the bounty on his head for assassinating President Kimball never got revoked. They still talk about it to this day. No other man alive has ever been confirmed to have taken down an entire squad of elite NCR Rangers before falling dead.

His gun was recovered by Kimball's replacement, some months later, and put on display in the National Historical Society Museum back in the NCR.

The papers, pardoning Pierce, were signed two days after his death. These too were put on display.

Train a troupe of tap dancing radscorpions and make a mint at the Tops...either that or I'd order my army of killer robots to take over the world.

Both of those are good...

I don't see anything in any one of these replies posted on the thread that spoils the ending. Only thing I see revealed is there's a Hoover Dam and someone has to fight over it, or there's a New Vegas and someone has to control it.

It's not like we didn't know that before the game even came out.

Wow. Someone needs a nap.
I don't want to spoil anything but rumour has it that there might be a room available somewhere on the Strip.

Mr House

I would live in Vegas, keep trying to expand and make it better. All the while enjoying the entertainment capital of the world.

NCR
The truth? Probably be washed up and old and wanting to re live the glory days. House's ending sounds much better xD

Caesar's Legion
*insert NCR answer*

No Independent for me. Ever. B)

And there's a radscorpion...you'll have to play the game to see if it tapdances though, I ain't hinting....

(But in all honesty, wouldn't the title of the thread give you a hint about the topic? It's a bit like not going to the wiki if you don't want to find out things...)

It depends on which character. My meleer, after defeating the Legendary Deathclaw and every pack in vicinity of New Vegas would become a Big Game Hunter with ED-E and Boone. See what other large animals we could kill. Maybe start a hunting club. Charge one Deathclaw hand for membership ;)

My scientist orator would have a passionate travelling affair with Veronica. We'd wander the wasteland lookng for esoteric comments and sarcastic yet humorous lines about the locals.

My sniper would claim to go zen and settle down on a mountaintop where few people could find her... and she had high ground with a broad field of view. After all, Yes Man claimed he was going to get more assertive. Though I suppose some C-4 might stop that.

Though all in all? I might just decide to go back where I started. Settle in the Goodsprings gas station. Hang around with smiles. Get drunk in the Saloon. Watch Easy Pete get progressively weirder. Head back to Vegas when it got boring. Try to revive television.

NCR prevails: Cass finds ME in the room, not some NCR schmo. Then we wander the wasteland for the next adventure.

Independent Vegas: I live the life of luxury, surrounded by [censored]s and booze while Yes Man takes care of everything else.

Mr. House prevails: same as Independent Vegas.

The Legion is destined to be destroyed. I would never side with them (except to get an Xbox 360 achievement).

Ghost: Finally joined the NCR Rangers......died the next day in a fight over some hokers.

John 'Black Jack' Longknife: Got bored after Caesar killed off all the raiders and headed off to Two Sun with Raul to teach the locals the correct pronunciation...'it's Tucson goddamit' was later found carved into a pryamid of skulls (all that was left of Two Sun).

Kris Richardson: United the New Vegas area into a confederation, with the Securitons/Brotherhood providing the military muscle and the Followers providing medical support. The New Vegas Confederacy then became the main trading partner of the NCR.......Kris spent the rest of her days living in luxury with Cass and Veronica, occasionally drunkenly sniping targets from the cocktail lounge of the Lucky 38.
