New Vegas for PC

Post » Tue Feb 22, 2011 2:09 am

Ive been waiting for new vegas for a while and have been reading the forums. Ive seen a lot of posts about how good the game is but ive also seen a large amount of posts talking about bugs in the game. Ive noticed that the majority of these bugs are for the 360 and the PS3. I'm a pc gamer so this woudnt matter to me but i was wondering if there a lot of bugs. I don't mean the little ocassional type thing where you pick up an object and the objects around it float, i mean are there any game breaking bugs for PC.

Probably least on the PC. With the PC you can use console command and that fixes most bugs such as disappearing followers, etc..

Yes there are some game breaking bugs, but not everyone gets them.

I, thankfully, did not get affected by the 'Come fly with me' save corruption bug. (PC) Nor did my friend on the PS3.

It's really hit and miss as to who gets them and who doesn't.

If you're going to buy it, the PC version is the only 'community/console fixable' version. I've had to apply them myself but boy what a difference!! (Performance issues vs bugs.)

Xbox360: 977 topics

But I think it's better to buy the PC version. If you doesn't have 8800GT card :D

I have not experienced a serious amount of bugs. The most annoying one I have seen so far concerns my companions. It seems they like to disappear and not follow your commands every now and then. I also experienced a bug that kept freezing or crashing the game when I was trying to trigger an option in a quest. I was forced to discard this option in the quest and ended up solving it another way. I would still recommend getting the game.

It's my belief that the only reason there are so many owners having problems with that card is that nVIDIA and its partners sold such a really large number of them (many tens of thousands). However, it appears to me that almost any Geforce card as powerful as the 8800, or any Geforce as new as the GTX280, is equally likely to become a part of our local database of problems, especially if the OS is Windows 7, 64 bit. A fairly sizable number of high end Radeons such as the HD 5870 also have difficulties when matched to Windows 7.

I don't think so. Find me anyone who doesn't have BSoDs on sys with 88GT ;)

BTW: I have WIN XP SP 3 and I needed .dll too, to have good framerate (Probably it's not placebo). However, it doesn't help for BSoDs.

Sorry for my english :D

I can't recomend this game right now guy. There are alot of bugs and alot of hardware compatibility issues with the pc version. If I could do it over Id wait a few months for a possible patch, community mods, and a sale. I can't speak to console versions.

The only major annoyances that I've run into with the PC version is the fps drops near AI. You can search the bug forums because I believe there is a temporary fix for this until a patch. My roommate has NV for 360 and to my knowledge he hasn't had any serious issues. I still think PC would be the better choice considering console commands and the community fixes. Plus, I think you will have less problems than will either console versions.

Bugs, no, performance, yes.

Mind sharing the CPU, GPU, RAM amount and OS? (SSD if you are getting one.)

Well, I'm on XP, and the game is as buggy as hell.

Some things I've done which have improved it:

1. Don't use HDR;
2. Verify the game cache on the game properties on the Steam options menu;
3. Tweaked my GT9600 game specific settings - this helped a lot;
4. Save, quite and restart either when the game gets too laggy, or after an hour or so (this cut the freezes out completely).

I'm running on Vista 64 bit, with a Radeon 4850. I've been remarkably bug free so far, and I haven't used or needed the d3d9 fix.

Of course, having said that, I probably just jinxed it. :(

I have a well maintained PC (frequent virus/spyware scans, junk file cleaning, defragging, up-to-date system drivers) also on XP. With a GTX 460 and the most current 260.99 drivers the game has been running flawlessly. Have about 30 hours on my first character and have not had one crash yet and the FPS stays pegged almost aways at the vertical sync limited 60 FPS. Very smooth with all in-game graphics quality settings maxed. Don't know if Win 7/Vista is the root of most PC problems or not, just saying my XP machine is doing very well.

Don't forget not all of them are bugs, most are technical issues which is normally down to the persons hardware rather than the game its self. :)

There are certainly bugs for the PC version but thankfully i've yet to come across any serious bugs in 40 hours of gameplay. *touch wood*
