New Vegas music compared to Fallout 3 [POLL]

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 7:38 am

The poll doesn't allow apostrophes. Good coding there guy-who-coded-polls

Is it just me or do these 3 [censored]s kinda look like giant [censored]s with arms and legs? :intergalactic: and their bobbing seems a bit inappropriate.

I still haven't played the game but in Fallout 3 I used to have my radio off and listen to the ambience of the Wasteland. I'm sure that after a few hours, no matter how good the music is in New Vegas, it becomes boring listening to the same old songs, so I intend to do the same.

I haven't played New Vegas yet but I really loved the music in FO3. It gave a real gritty feel to the game, and was a perfect choice in my opinion. Im not sure who any of the artists were, but alot of the songs were sad and depressing which added realism to the game.

What I've heard of the radio music in NV is good, but I've only heard a few songs.. Maybe 5 or so.. Either the playlist is very small or it likes to keep picking the same songs. I'll hope for a mod like "more where that came from" for FO3, which gave a lot more songs of the same style.
The ambient music is nice too, and it includes some FO3 tracks too.

a ton of the non-radio music is strait from fallout 1 and 2 and its pretty awsome to hear that.

I hope someone comes out with a mod to use FO3 running animations in this game. I'm already tired of that "stick-up-the-butt" running animation. Even the walk is very stiff. As far as music goes, I don't care for the old Country Western songs much.

I don't think you can really compare the two. On one hand, I liked the FO3 music because it gave the feeling of a society that was a remnant of a time before. Even though FO:NV is the same situation, the feel is totally different and the music matches that. The NV music mixes in more with the society that it embodies currently, rather than the music of yesterday.

Ummm... if the fact that there are three songs on repeat makes them the same, then yes, they are the same. Sadly I really like the three songs. I say sadly, because after 40 hours of listening to the same three songs, I am going to hate them in about two days. And no, don't tell me to turn off the radio - instead tell Bethesda to make more than three tracks!

I much preferred Fallout 3's music. Granted I've only heard a few songs so far but none of them make me want to have my radio on to listen to them. In Fallout 3 there were plenty of songs that I would hope and hope would be played next while my radio was on, but that's not the case here. Not much a fan of Mr. New Vegas so far either, I'm afraid. Three Dog may have been one of, if not the most annoying characters in the game, but at least he put some serious personality into his radio broadcasts. Wayne Newton sounds like he's trying but it just isn't the same.

Overall, I prefer NVs music. That said, there's not NEARLY enough tracks. I think there's what, eight? And one of those was in FO3s list as well (Kick in the Head, Dean Martin).

Spoiler

Wayne Newton is kick-ass as Mr. New Vegas.

I'm just not really that into country/western, so I have to go with FO3's selection. Although I do rather dig the "Big Iron" song.

It's totally cool that they got someone like Wayne Newton to do the DJ, but I will say I much prefer Three Dog. Half the time I can't quite make out what Newton is saying, that certainly wasn't the case with Three Dog.

Three Dog had attitude and energy. When Wayne Newton gets going about how he loves you and all that, I'm not sure if I should take a shower or smoke a cigarette.

while I understand their choice to make newton the dj for this game, but sadly I prefer Three Dog much more.

I like the music in both games, though hearing that one song with a lady singing about a love guitar or something to that nature, only played 3 hours, but it is rather depressing sounding lol.

While I prefer the music of Fallout 3, the music in NV suits the situation really well. I am missing 3 Dog tho..."duh na na nah! This is Three Dog bringing you the news..even when it hurts!"

Radio music wise, Fallout 3 wins by a small margin for me. There were more tracks overall and the playlists were made well enough to where they didn't get too repetitive. With the small amount of tracks New Vegas has, the playlists get more and more repetitive. I mean, "Big Iron" is a great song and all, but it gets kind of annoying hearing it 4 times in one hour.

Now ambient music is a much different story. New Vegas's ambient music just demolishes Fallout 3's. The music never feels out of place and just helps to draw you in, unlike Fallout 3's. Not to mention that it never gets repetitive like Fallout 3's did. And how could you forget that New Vegas actually includes ambient music from Fallout 1 and 2? I couldn't help my spine from tingling after I heard the track "Underground Troubles" from Fallout being played when I entered the hotel in Primm. Even hearing "City of Lost Angels" being played while entering Primm was amazing. I mean, you have the awesome new music created by Inon Zur, plus the timeless ambient tracks from the past Fallouts that made you feel like you really were in a wasteland. How does that not beat Fallout 3?

I am big classic country fan. They could have done a lot better job with the track selection. Unlike Three Dog, Mr. New Vegas puts me to sleep.
