New Vegsas Know-How

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 7:38 am

I've been playing both FO3 and FNV for a few weeks now and I def need some help. I seem to be failing alot of quests so I start over and I already used up 57/100 saves already and I need to restart again(I'm such a noob) Can anyone tell me how I should start out in FNV? Like w/ the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point allocating system and skill points? What are good skills to start out with? Any other tips?

Lots of points into Agility and Intelligence. Not so much in Charisma, unless you want to take the boring, talk your way through everything way. Guns and Repair are good skills to max out on. You can get a couple sweet perks in Hand Loader and Jury Rigging with a very high repair skill. Makes things easier.

It really depends on what type of character you want.

In terms of SPECIAL allocation. There really isn't a bad way to go with this.

Charisma in the long run can be considered the least useful stat, since there are few Charisma checks, Speech and (to lesser extent) Barter can easily be raised through skillpoint allocation and followers don't need a high Nerve to be useful.

In terms of skills choose which things you want to be proficient at. For a first time, try to choose one weapon related skill and divide the rest of your attention to non-weapon related skills. Lockpicking and Science are useful for opening doors and containers, repair helps with quite a few checks and improves equipment repair and speech is useful for all manner of skill checks in dialogue.
