new voices in skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:56 am

im seeing if people would be interested in doing this.
getting a site together just for adding new vocal content to the elder scrolls games.
or even if there is a good place to store all of this if it got going.it could start off with a collection of generic names for the npcs to greet the player with.
maby grow into redialogs with more conversations to put in the game and go over whats allready there or add to it.
then once a good amount of those are out there put up a custom request option.
i know it would take a lot of time and people to do this thats why im asking. just in general.
maby if i put this out there somebody else my take the idea and run with it.
it would be pretty cool to have new voices and having a way to get voice acting for new mods users have made.
so
what does everybody think? good idea, or to much effort to add to the game?

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you mean what I think you mean (a website dedicated for amateur voice acting for mods), then yeah, I guess it would be a good idea.

I think this is a neat idea. I would be willing to give it a try, but I'm not sure if my Louisiana -Texas drawl would fit anywhere in Skyrim.

The problem with this is most people either don't have the hardware capable of producing decent audio, or they don't have a good voice for voice acting. And starting up a site for amateur voice acting is just begging to fail. You need people dedicated and capable to doing voice work, which is a rare thing around here.

That being said, TES Alliance has a forum set up for such people and is open for people to find voice actors, assuming the mod makers are dedicated in their work as well.

Modding is a very time consuming process, and most people are not willing to offer up their services to projects that will be dead in a day or 2.

pretty much what i ment.

though as for accents it may matter may not, id say if the actor had one they should probably make a note of it.
could help alot though as their are different regions in the game.

intersting didnt know that. and those points are true, but starting somewhere does kick it off.
though i live by somebody with a recording studio thats good quality and private, would take some favors, but id be interested in voice acting to add to the game

I think it's a great idea if I understand what you said correctly.

An online resource of sound files that can be freely uploaded and downloaded. People(modders) can request scripts to be acted out by anyone who fancies a go at it. The modder can then choose the most suitable one while the remaining ones can be seperated and reused elsewhere if necessary.

Sure you'll get some hilarious attempts but I'm sure you'll also find some diamonds in there too. Plus it sounds fun :)

I'm not a modder or anything, but I can imagine that if a person tried to do act and then got accepted by a modder, the actor could use some soundfiles as examples on his profile so that the next modder can look him up and can decide if the actor has the voice he is looking for.

I see this being a disaster with the best intentions. To be perfectly honest, without superb direction, there's absolutely no way to hit all the vocal points anyone needs to. It's one thing to read a line well, it's another entirely to read a line well in the appropriate context.

Good luck though, I'm just saying, I've seen "Voice over" mods, and none of them have ended well.
