New weapons preview and 11 mins of gameplay

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:29 pm

This is so true. All this console footage really leaves a bad taste about BRINK for the PC crowd. I know there are some exceptionally good players on consoles who will play a lot better than this guy, so don't take this as a console flame. It's just sad that the first gameplay previews show such horrible sluggish footage.

Lolwut?

Umm... The PC version will be just as sluggish. It isn't the platform making it look sluggish, it's the seemingly horrible programmed ally and enemy AI.

Apparently the Hood for The Eel was removed...

Why do people keep saying that? its right at 3:37. One number away from being LEET

Oh, right, you said hood, not mask. Maybe they were having clipping issues with hoods, I'm curious to see if the resistance still has any.

Yes, it takes the place of your frag grenade and uses the same cooldown. Exactly the same as your normal frag except that it explodes on impact, and i assume has a further range and/or moves faster.

Grenades in Brink are not damage focused, theyre crowd control. They do some damage and knock people over.

Looks like I'll be going for the extended mags and any rate of fire improvements I can get for my weapons.

I think The Bouncer is my new favourite Security Archetype. Looks way better ingame than on the Concept Art.

I was thinking the exact same thing (except about being my favorite)! At first I couldn't care less about him, but after seeing the parts in-game I anticipate using them...

Maybe you can choose to have the hood up or down, like how you could choose to wear your coats open or closed in fable 2. I'm only thinking like this because the concept art for the eel had him wearing the hood down.

On the character customisation:

Apparently the Hood for The Eel was removed...

When I saw the video of Security customization all I could think of was ''when is the Eel stuff coming?'', then I saw that the vest indeed got no alt. version..

I got very dissapointed when I saw this.. I have even asked some Splash Damage employees countless times before the videos started rolling in, but they refuse to answer me

But some guy on the Splash Damage forum says it's a head-wear option, didn't say how - but I guess he meant that you have to wear the vest and then go to the head-wear section to choose it, gosh I hope this is it

There is still hope, but not much..

No, the PC version does not have to be as sluggish. It's a matter of programming mouse-controls well instead of translating the mouse-input to joystick-input to movement (Dead Space, anyone).

Oh, right, you said hood, not mask. Maybe they were having clipping issues with hoods, I'm curious to see if the resistance still has any.

The Anger hood can be seen on every other Resistance avatar.

Actually I prefer his Jacket over The Freak's now. I think it will look a lot better on a Light than the other.

Sounds reasonable, but very unlikely as well.

The Security get the "short end" on customisation anyway.

Yeah, I know, right? :/

But I got Wraith to back me up on this, he said he'd find out for me on the 10th, hopefully he'll keep to his word

Well, to be fair that /was/ just concept art. We haven't seen an actual Security hood outside of that one Eel pic.

The concept art didn't have the hood on

The wallpaper art had the hood on

The recent and latest videos and screenshots of The Eel vest doesn't have the hood on

Just have to wait for release date to find out

Right, the wallpaper art. My bad. Still...

Although the hood doesn't necessarily have to belong to the Eel. Some of the archetypes are actually wearing things that are not named after themselves.

The hood in the wallpaper art is attached to the vest that belongs to The Eel, so even though you can be right that some are wearing stuff not belonging to them, this one belongs to The Eel :/

Well to be honest, the Security's aesthetic palette can only go so far... it's nowhere near as open to being broad as the Resistance, considering one is men in suits and the other is men in ANYTHING.
