Newbie asking for help!

Hi everybody :)

I've been modding Fallout New Vegas by going on fallout nexus and using ONLY Fallout Mod Manager to install my mods.

However, I want to make my own mods...and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that this G.E.C.K allows me to basically mod New Vegas the way I want?

Anyway, so far, I've installed the GECK at the right location (I have Steam) and it works.

Now I'm at the first tutorial and I noticed...that the tutorial is for players who only have the vanilla Fallout New Vegas.esm on its own. Without DLCs.

From there I have a few questions:

- I have all the DLCs so far...and when I double click the Fallout New Vegas.esm, it says I have multiple master files and the load order has been aborted.

- Furthermore, I have all the other mods installed into the New Vegas folder.

Basically, is there a way round on using GECK?

If not...I have a vanilla backed up into an external hard-drive and I can "restore" the game, essentially getting rid of all the mods and installing the vanilla version of New Vegas including the DLCs.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense...but...I actually have no clue on what to do :')

Thank you :)

The GECK by default selects all the DLC masters. Just double click on the boxes with the 'X' to deselect them, and click 'ok'. This will open a blank esp dependent only on the FalloutNV esm. Now you can go ahead and do your mod, and when you save it you will be prompted to give it a name.

Ah I think I see...

So when I mod...I only mod the resources used in the Fallout New Vegas and NOT the DLCs.
So am I correct in thinking that the mods in nexus which requires, for example, Old World Blues, then if I selected old world blues along with Fallout New Vegas, the mods which I create using those two .esms must be required to run the mod?

^ Did that even make sense? :')

You are correct. Your mod would require all ESMs that were selected during creation and will not be usable without those ESMs.
