Next DLC's Artifact Set?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:49 pm

Just a random thought. What if next DLC will have another Artifact Set like Dawnguard did? What do you think it will be?

Dawnguard's Artifact Set: Auriel's Bow and Auriel's Shield...

What I think would be next? Chrysamere and Lord's Mail would be nice.. They are also normally combined together a lot as well.. Like in Morrowind...

Thoughts?

Well, I personally would like the next DLC to take place on Artaeum, and would've liked it to have something to do with the Staff and Eye of Magnus; but I suppose they wan't do anything else with them. Shame.

I doubt you'll see any other Paladin like artifacts in the next expansion, seeing as how this was pretty much it.

Shoot me down if you want but I wouldn't mind seeing the triumphant return of Umbra. I would particularly like to know what happened to it after the events of The Infernal City and such. I guess its not so much an artifact set as just an amazing artifact.

Remember that the name "Hearthfire" or whatever was copyright, so it is magic orientated somehow :D

We never even gotten any Paladin artifacts. Auriel's Bow and Shield are Elvish Artifacts.

@ hobbitfoot: The Umbra Sword was destroyed in the books.. That sword is gone for good.

Elvish artifacts can't be Paladin artifacts?

Auriel's Bow, I grant you, is more along the lines of a "holy ranger" (if you know a better term, correct me).

But Auriel's Shield? That's a Paladin shield right there.

I still count them as Elvish Artifacts since they are Elven Made.

Chrysamere and Lord's Mail are more Paladin-Like to me than Auriel's Bow and Auriel's Shield.

~Edit~

Also, Chrysamere and Lord's Mail are two, of five, original artifacts not in Skyrim. The other 3 are rings.. I kinda am thinking they are planning to introduce all the original artifacts.

Why does it bother you so much that they are Elvish? They are still holy.

And as much as I would want them in the next expansion, I think Dawnbreaker was meant to be the Paladins sword of choice. Yes, it is Meridia's artifact, but I think Bethesda wanted to make this game a bit less Black/White

We still need a 2-Hand Artifact that is Holy.... Melee wise.. Chrysamere fits that and I personally think that Beth should bring back all original artifacts, and they are so close in doing so now actually.. If the next DLC is magic base then I can easily see the 3 missing rings coming in that DLC.. Then after that, I think Chrysamere and Lord's Mail should come in...

Well some would say the Dawnguard Rune Hammer might count, but I digress....

Instead of Chrysamere, how about Stendarr's Hammer?

Stendarr's Hammer weighs 1,000 pounds.. Though it be would sweet to have in Skyrim since it'll be different but nah. I'm big fan of Chrysamere. Used it all the time in Arena. Daggerfall. AND Morrowind... It wasn't in Oblivion and not in Skyrim.. I want it back in Skyrim! That is like one of the few things Skyrim needs for me to like it more than Daggerfall.

~Edit~

But Seriously.. Each hit from Stendarr's Hammer would be like "Fus Ro Dah!"

Dawnbreaker is the wrong weapon for a Paladin that follow the Nine, I mean Meridia's took indirect action against the Nine in KoTN by giving Umari immortallly and a army.

That's why I said Bethesda wanted to make this game less Black/White:

The Companions harbors werewolves
The College of Winterhold tolerates necromancy
The Blades are jerks
The Empire tries to kill you in the beginning, and bans worship of Talos
The Stormcloaks are accused of being racist

Still doesn't mean why we can't have Chrysamere and Lord's Mail.. Specly since they are highly popular.

Was I reading it wrong then? I thought Daedric artifacts had a habit of always returning? Didn't Sul say it was going to return after a long time? Now that I think about it, I don't know why VIle would go through that again

At the end of the book...
Spoiler
Sul sacrificed himself when he stabbed Umbra into Umbriel's heart, which destroyed the heart, sword, and Sul... Basicly.

Than we can do a quest to make a new Umbra, said quest give you a look into how actifacts are made. The only real problem will finding a prince willing to give a part of themself.

1. Umbra was created but didn't really become UMBRA as we know it until it somehow became a sentient being.
2. Clavicus Vile greatly underestimated Umbra and payed the price when Umbra STOLE part of his power. (he did not give it power it stole it from him)
3. Clavicus himself went through a lot of trouble to destroy it.
4. The other deadric princes might be a little crazy but they aren't stupid. They know full well know that creating a sentient weapon is asking for trouble.
5. Umbra was completely disintegrated after his spirt was reinserted into the blade. Its gone for good now :(

As for possible new dlc weapons. I wouldn't mind them fixing Keening into something useful (and make it so you can recharge the blasted thing) and reintroducing Sunder and Wraithguard. What would be really cool is that Keening or Sunder will ahve seperate enchantments that will only activate if all 3 are equipped at the same time. Sunder in 1 hand, Keening in the other.
*falls over at the thought*

Also I wouldn't mind Chrysamere and Lord's Mai. This game badly needs some more options for 2h blades.

There are a ton of non-sword artifacts they could add in. There's the Ring of Phynaster, the Warlock's Ring, the *actual* Necromancer's Amulet (not that complete piece of trash we get), the Fists of Randagulf, the Bloodworm Helm, the Ring of Kahjiti, the Staff of Worms, Denstagmer's Ring, the Staff of Hasedoki, the Boots of the Apostle, the artifacts you recover from the Tribunal Temple quests in Morrowind...
