Next Patch 1.6 to add difficulty.

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:01 am

I think Bethesda should add another level of difficulty in the game (Like Doom nightmare). I'm playing at the most difficult and can easily kill any enemy. I'm very good or that the game is easy?

Did you powerlevel? That's usually what people do when they say the game is too easy.

Now that title was completely misleading. I thought there was going to be some actual information about the next patch.

People always say this. It's kind of what led to level scaling being in Oblivion. The amount of "I'm basically a god by level twenty" in Morrowind on the forums back then was pretty sad.

if you want the game to be harder, try to limit yourself. people seem to not want to do that, though. they wish that game difficulty increases with players strength, but somehow the players forget that they keep increasing their gear, because they want to deal better with enemies. so of course, after a while you start to dominate.

I find the game really hard. Then again, I guess I should have put my boosts into health instead of magika and stamina. I shouldn't have been hording my perks.

You want to make the game harder, save up those perks or put them else where instead of what is EASY FOR YOU. Also don't put the boosts into Health. Trust me, you will not be saying the game is easy when you get killed in 3 shots and it takes more hits to kill your enimies since you didn't put all those perks into boosting your stats.

Again, this is a decision YOU CAN MAKE, instead of saying that Bethesda has to do it. So again, no more boosts to health, use them for Stamina. Also no perks into boosting armour, or weapons and DON'T use the exploits of enchanting and alchemy.

My level is 39 and like to play with the Orc. Got a cool armor on a special quest, (it takes the life of enemies just getting close), I got a nice weapon. I developed the character just for melee attacks. I get close to enemies and kill very quickly. It is very easy.

Did you level smithing? Or any of the crafting skills? They make the game very easy, but even without them you can get a streak of really weak enemies that you just breeze through when you're high level.
That's what happened to my char when he was that level, difficulty kind of went up and down, sometimes i'd run around one shotting things left and right then suddently i'd get a single arrow to the face,at full health, and die.

Well yeah I pratice Smithing. But this should not be a problem but a way to get to get stronger for the fight. I still think the game is easy the way I like to play. I would really like would be more difficult.

When you start a new game the enemies are really tough. Once you get some levels they become fools.

Seriously now the only enemy that makes me take potions of life is the Dragon. The other rarely.

This.

Thread needs a lock or a delete/title change. You're going to garner the wrong kind of traffic, OP; people will not be pleased.

On master enemies like bandit chiefs, briarhearts and deathlords are always a big threat.

If you find those enemies easy on master, without hugely exploiting crafting, how do you deal with them with such ease?

The subject of this thread is misleading (more precisely it is false), as mentioned above.

And serious doubt the OP's claim that he (or she) can "can easily kill any enemy". Unless the OP is power gaming or at a very high level, when the game should be easy (or you will have Oblivion type level scaling).

At around level 40 and lots of help and armor I find some enemies can one shot (or nearly one shot kill) my character on Master. That is not easy. And that is a fact. It is true that at around level 40, if you build a powerful character, most enemies can be easy (including bears, trolls, many bandits) but boss level characters can still kill in one shot. Fact.

On master enemies like bandit chiefs, briarhearts and deathlords are always a big threat.

If you find those enemies easy on master, without hugely exploiting crafting, how do you deal with them with such ease?

Most likely he doesn't. When he (or she) say's "any enemy" he is probably excluding those. And Giants for that matter.

Unless of course you just hide and fire arrows. But that is not possible if a gang of bosses appear in the wilds.

Enchanting, combined with Smithing, can make a melee focused power extremely overpowered.

While I have no problem with a player wanting to feel tough, I believe people telling the guy "Well then just don't do X or Y" is an extremely lazy response.

I'm 200:500:200 on a level 60 character. Today a Briarheart came within inches of killing me. I don't quite understand how they do so much damage and only sometimes, but I was pretty glad that I put all those points into health. I saw some people who put all their points into health so they would have 100:700:100 at level 60. But I feel fairly secure after having 500 points. I'm playing on expert level, not master.

I've never had a problem with difficulty. My archer tried to clear Cragslane Cavern with his follower and flame atronach and they were all killed by a battleaxe-wielding maniac. This is on adept, too. My old sword-n-board character had lots of difficulty with certain dungeons as well.
That said, on neither of them did I exploit smithing or enchanting. That can make a HUGE difference.

What they really need to do is:

1. Improve enemy Ai behaviors across the board
2. Lower enemy hp/damage and actually give them armor rating instead of just more hp
3. Remove the ability to pause and potion chug
4. Make player damage, armor rating, resistances, and skills a contested value with diminishing returns
5. Improve enemy Ai behaviors across the board

I am terrible with shield and sword. Hardly an enemy can hit me a blow. Some magicians seem to be more aggressive, but I have resistances to magic, take some resistance potions and everything becomes easy.

I agree somewhat. increasing the Smithing makes the game too easy and it's easy to get it to 100 in no time and with practically no cost. Hides are easy to get and making leather hats forever takes minimal materials. Someone screwed up by making the linear crafting levels when it should become more difficult to level up with leather armor as your level goes up. Leather should give less and less XP to smithing as you go up the levels. The XP per level as well should be logarithmic instead of linear. This would mean that, by around level 60, you should have to make thousands of leather hats to gain one level instead of just 10.

I piled all my perks into Smithing and now have the Nightingale armour but with a Legendary Daedric bow with soul catcher enchantment, Glass arrows and Legendary Daedric twin swords (one enchanted with fire and the other ice) by level 20 all made by myself. My character is all but unstoppable just with that, often getting one shot kills with the bow. The only regret is that you have to buy or salvage arrows since there is no Fletching trade to learn.

Add in the extra damage with every level increase which is automatic and the game becomes a no-brainer. I can complete entire dungeons at level 30 now with the bow and using stealth, getting one shot kills and only having to resort to the swords for the bosses. When I do get to the bosses, I have no problem because I never have to use health potions otherwise so I have dozens of them. I hardly ever use shouts or magic either and even alchemy is pointless.

Stealth, speechcraft and smithing are all that is required to play this game on easy mode even when you are not playing on Novice mode from the settings.

kind've destroys one of the purposes I play, sadly.

I'd like an Apocolyptic mode... I mean it's not one of the things I'm dieing for, I would rather them just fix all the bugs they find so that the content we do have can be experienced easily instead of adding new things.

Hopefully the mods just rename it for you. Reading your other posts, it sounds like you are not a native English speaker. Understandable that you might have named the thread as you did, to say what you said.
