Nice place for a hunter to setup?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:49 pm

So I'm getting ready to make my fifth character, Roderic, a Breton hunter/werewolf forsworn armor wearing guy with a mowhawk and epic chin beard that likes to shoot people with bows. My question to the lovely community is, where is a nice little abadoned cabin or camp to set up shop in? Just wondering if there's any particularly awesome spots for an outdoorsman. Thanks in advance - Frank

I recall a particularly nice cabin somewhere in the mountain range between Whiterun and Morthal. It had this nice view and even a little balcony-sort-of-thing overlooking the great landscape.

You'll have to rid it of any legitimate owner, of coruse.

This would be perfect for you, OP.

It's right off of a main road that leads in to a decent forested area for you to hunt in.

I was going to suggest the Alchemist's Shack myself. It's probably my single favorite spot in the whole game. It's a great choice for a hunter.

I'd suggest searching for some mods to set up your own camp with a tent, campfire, crafting stuff. Steam workshop or Skyrim nexus have these that I've seen but not tried yet.

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you are looking for but I thought the top of Faldar's Tooth would make an awesome home.
There is a little shack on top of a stone tower. Go check it out in game.

Yep the shack by the river to the SW of Windhelm is a really nice spot. It even has a chest that is safe to store items in.

I still have nightmares of going into this 'nice cabin' you speak of. Just make sure you have enough levels and perks under your belt before you do.

This. The Alchemist's shack isn't just for alchemists! The bedside table doesn't respawn, so it's safe to store stuff in (check that link though in case I'm mistaken). There's also plenty of deer and such, as well as a few bears ...

The hunter's camp is near Riverwood - just follow the river and you'll run into it. There's a hunter there, but he's not too hard to 'take care of' ;)

^ this one. It provides an amazing landscape and has a tanning rack. There's a hunter occupying it at first, and I'm not sure if you can store items in the container. I love this spot though.

Oh look, there's the one I spoke of. Must've misremembered the location a tiny bit.

IF you have a PC download;

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9623]It%27s in Riverwood and it's not one of these ridiculously HUGE Player House mods[/url]

If you don't have a PC, then I suggest heading to one of the Shacks in the middle of a forest/wilderness and killing the owner (if it's occupied). That way, you have a nice shack surrounded by animals :)

Are you referring to Drelas Cottage? It's kinda between Morthal and Whiterun and yeah, he's a mean sum[censored]. But it's not really a home for hunters. More a home for insane mages.

I love the Alchemist's Shack. The surrounding woods are so beautiful.

I can think of a few other neat hunter camps I've seen in my travels, but they're not marked on the map and I doubt they'd have safe storage.

If you are on PC use the portable camp mod. Lets you buy a good majority of camp items and you can make a small 1 person camp in the woods, or a large military base on a cliff top.

No, the camp's aren't marked on the map, and I haven't been able to find anything that says they have safe storage either. My hunter often stay's over night in one on her way to sell her good's in town. Bandit camp's to, but she clear's them out. and then often spend's the night there.

Yup, that's the guy! I'll get him one day.

On topic, I've seen quite a few abandoned huts and cottages dotted around Skyrim. Is it possible to just move in and leave your stuff there? Or will it eventually disappear?

Their are some safe storage places in "shack's" here and their http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses#Free_Shacks that's a list of the shack's and which container's are safe to store stuff in.... the list maybe added to as ppl play more and try out different places.
