Nice touches in the game including ... Butterfly six?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:04 pm

On my new game (after waiting for the patch and CK) I started a new game and decided to take my time on deciding who to join or even doing the MQ. There are a couple of nice things I`ve noticed...

1. You can explore doing stuff like an ordinary joe. I wandered to different locations and just chose jobs I felt like. Ask the Taverner, ask the jarl`s adviser. After a while I felt pretty much like a freelance merc.

2. You will random bump into stormcloaks or Empire soldiers who`ll advise to join their side. Nice.

3. Random dungeoneering is pretty cool. I like the waffles of bandits if you creep and listen. some of it is quite specific. for instance, after killing a guy guarding a dungeon I sneaked in and another bandit was saying, "Don`t you think someone might just wander in here?" After I went to the next section, more bandits came out and one said,"I thought someone was supposed to be guarding the entrance" Which I thought was pretty realistic.

4. Khajitt sales vendors seem to wander from place to place more.

5. No one seems to screw up the speech so far concerning Dragons. They talk of rumours of Dragons after Helgen, but say nothing to do with later attacks. In medieval reality people spoke of Dragons even when none ever existed so that`s ok.

6. Plenty of random encounters ( I don`t fast travel) to keep you interested. i even found knew ones I never met in my previous game like the random warrior who insults me and wants a fight for no reason at all.

7. The detail of some things. Birds suddenly flying throw the trees and nesting, random wandering creatures like deer. And butterflies that mate! Yep mate. If you watch some of them really close, two of them will fly and just get together. It`s what butterlies do in real life and it`s called mating!

I guess that don`t require an advlt rating! LOL.

This is a HUGE world and is quite atmospheric when travelling by foot everywhere.

Now there are lots of stuff I find half done, but what is done is done very well.

I'd say just clipping glitches, but I never paid attention. Also the guard saying that were scripted to do that, a lot of dungeons don't do that.

I sometimes wish you'd be asked if you wanted the "Join the (insert faction) side" and if you click no, you wouldn't have it stuck in your quest book. Kinda clutters up after a little while.

But yeah, the detail in this game is amazing. If only I had if for pc, then it would be craaaazy unbelievably good lookin.

You mean for the butterflies? No, I watched and then checked other butterflies. Really you should spend time to check.

One of my favorite things is to stroll through nature. The devil is in the details.

I used to think that they exchanged depth for breadth. But looking twice I would say they accomplished a form of both.

The butterflies aren't mating, but rather landing at the same spot - you'll notice they will land and perch on objects (or where an object used to be, like an alchemy ingredient) and sometimes multiple butterflies land in the same spot. If they were mating, usually what would happen is the butterflies would fly around while still attached at the abdomens. http://www.whatsthatbug.com/images/monarchs_mating_martha.jpg

Yeah, but what does Veronica in FNV say about the Legion?!? "I heard they.........each other and much as the........the women. No such luck for us though!" All we get is a stupid meaningless marriage. I'm with Veronica on this one!

Usually that's well above whatever they're supposed to be landing on.

And speaking of butterflies, a horse with a rider weights less than a butterfly; if you ride into one, you and the horse will be the one pushed aside  I suppose that's a side effect for having the butterflies being interactable, but still hilarious :hehe:

Do you know what "Fus" means? Try asking the leader of the Greybeards about it - it makes sense.

I noticed it as well. When I first seen the butterflies I was trying to catch then and then I saw them mating, I still caught both of them and plucked there wings off.

From how I interpret what Blade watcher is saying, that's actually what's happening. Still doesn't mean it can't be a coincidence. Also, I don't think Monarch butterflies regularly mate in the game's setting of autumn and winter.

...So you're saying the butterflies can shout?

You can use "butterfly" instead of "Dovahkiin/Dragonborn" in the song and it still scans perfectly. Just saying.

i`m sure they`ve been doing it in mid flight too. I will double check.

Another thing that gets me about the detail is these Foxes. I still can`t quite figure them out. I had one fox run TWICE around me in a tight circle, so taking this as a clue I followed it. It seemed to be leading me somewhere, but after about 10 minutes following it- Nothing.

So the running around me in a circle was a fluke? Those Foxes are weird.

No, but they are gifts from Kyne too!

Bah... animals tend not to give a damn WHAT'S watching when they decide to get it on (Nor, often, what they're getting it on with, either).

In NV my bighorners had an unfortunate habit if having about six of them standing inside of eachother and if I got to close they all split apart.

i've never chosen a side right from 11.11.11 and stopped the MQ after i got a certain shout,i kind of got bored and i realised that joining a faction would'nt let me be able to just wander in anywhere without some form of interaction.

Frikin foxes should be running away from you not run in front of you.

when i'm in the mood i'll lead a patrol to there doom somewhere or get them to attack something thats chasing me.

Man they should of had a couple of aylied ruins up around the pale to give a sense of cultural continuation from oblivion maybe even something else along the road that leads to morrowind.other than the falmer statue wheres the falmer ruins?

Beth should of had falmer ruins aswel to break the nordic influence alittle.

There alot of sunken ships in the game.

The moth is one of the main symbols of human Cyrodiil.
Moths are closely related to butterflies.
Therefore, butterflies "logically" would be important to Talos.

The butterflies do seem to mate, and fly around mating. But I have seen a blue butterfly doing it with a monarch, which is not really the way it works.
