Nightkin Davison Glitch

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:38 am

I'm calling this a glitch for me because It didn't do this on the xbox version. When you have to find the stealth boys for Davison you have to get passed that Ghoul by either killing him or checking on his friends. While going to check on his friend you HAVE to kill some nightkin. On the xbox version even when doing this and helping the Ghoul, Davison didn't go hostile. While playing the PC version he went hostile either way. Is this a glitch or is it just a fluke?

You don't have to kill any Nightkin. I
Spoiler
use my Stealth Boys to get to the Ghoul friend, report back to Harland, investigate his room and then sneak back to report to Davison.

There is another way to get to Davison where you don't have to fight the Nightkin, which will make him hostile if you kill any before you meet him. Go in from the outside entrance to the tunnel.

However, whether or not he goes ballistic on you is almost a random thing. I have had him go ballistic with no Nightkin killed, some nightkin killed and be friendly under both conditions also. Although I was sneaking and killing the Nightkin when he did not go ballistic, so I may not have been "noticed"

No, you don't have to kill the nightkins, you can sneak/run pass them.

The first time I played that quest, I killed all the Nightkin before meeting Davison, and he did not go hostile. I figure that was the glitch. On my current game, he did go hostile, and I had to kill him.

No great loss.

Why are you allowing Harland to live? The ghoul has, up to this point if following the MQ, the most powerful ranged weapon yet encountered. A single 5.56mm HP round from a Varmit rifle applied to the head is all it takes. Get the info Davison wants and you are done.

Davison is like the second coolest Nightkin in the game. Can't bring myself to kill him now...well, I might if I was running a melee/unarmed character. There is another Bumper sword not too far away west of Helios one.

I've always had to kill the jailer and his two guards in order to reach Harland's friend, despite having high Sneak, Silent Running, and using a Stealth Boy. I'm usually wearing heavy armor, which might have been a factor, but I still should have been able to get past them. Davison doesn't seem to mind for some reason, but then he is a nutcase...
