Nightvision?

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 7:27 am

So i think i remember hearing that there was supposed to some sort of nightvision equipment in the game before it was released. I've only seen Varmint Rifle Nightvision Scope, Cateye and of course the Friend of the Night perk, none of which are particularly usable in long wasteland treks now that i added a mod that makes nights actually dark. Are there any nightvision goggles in the game, or do i have to make some myself? (Motorcycle goggles + Varmint Scope effect. How hard it could be? :D)

I hate the whole Night scope thing.

It DESTROY the colour difference needed to tell things apart from the very yellowy desert.

I haven't come across one, but there is a type of nuka cola that has some sort of night vision quality, IIRC. Haven't used it personally, though.

That's nightvision for you. Personally I find it useful and quite like it.

Nuka-Cola Quartz IIRC. It has the same effect as Cateye (which is quite similar to the Khajiit Eye of Night ability from Oblivion). Still, it doesn't last long enough for night-time exploring.

Here we have a problem created by a mod, that can only be corrected with another mod. Exactly how nightvision came to Fallout 3 too :lmao:

I just figured since there is a wearable water breathing enabling mask, there would be nightvision goggles too

I would assume something todo with the Boomers & the Bomber in the lake. I'm guessing though, I suggest using the Wikia.

The plane isn't too difficult to spot, theres a map marker somewhere on the lake where a wrecked half submerged boat is, head roughly NW I think. I'll have to confirm that.

Having said that, you may even need the quest 'Volare' for it to be there.

As far as I know, what you've already listed and I believe a high PER is all I can think of. That and increasing the game brightness.

I know that in the game some Rangers talk about how the Ranger Combat Helmet is made with pre-War night vision goggles to help the Rangers with night missions. "The helmet that accompanies it is black pre-War military issue, complete with a gas mask and built-in low-light optics." This according to the Wiki. I thought that this was true(one of the big reasons why i wanted the Combat Armor.) After getting the armor and wearing it for awhile I find that it isn't actually true, though i have randomly gotten night vision while inside buildings. I'll have to keep experimenting on this and get back to you guys on it.

I don't get the point of the night-vision drugs in the game. I haven't come across any place which were easier to navigate using it.

He isn't talking about a plane he is talking about the lake monster that was being speculated before release.

There is like 3 BoS missions.

Right the only place i've really needed them was the REPCONN basemant, made spotting the Nightkin easier.

Really, the nights in the game are as bright as days, just like in Fallout 3. Propably the reason why there is no "permanent" night vision.

In addition to night vision which is useful for seeing any distance in the dark, there is your pipboy light which works well for examining dark spots close up.

actually, the nights are pretty dark and somewhat hard to see whatss out in the mojave, thats why theres the cateye substance and the friend of the night perk to help you to see in the night time which are awsome, its bright as day because the game visual settings or tv settings are probably up pretty high. the friend of the night is great for me because it makes it extremely easier to see long distances when stalking my prey from long distances to get my kill shots :)

The advanced Recon mod includes a nightvision component. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34683

Oops, sorry to drag this back on topic. So... lake monsters? Really?

There is a mis-interpretation of the expectation of 'monster', I believe it was construed as the plane, anyway a 'monster' in FO would really ruin the whole thing.

So what about deathclaws, Cazzdors (sp? the flying insects) Gaint Radscorpions and the Supermutants? These are all monsters.
