Non-combat skills.

(If this has been discussed before in a previous thread, kindly link me in that direction. Thanks.)

I see a lot of talk about the games possible weapons and armor and factions and things like that. War stuff. But what if you don't want to be a fighter? Or a gunslinger? or a karate-kid? What about the non-combat skills? Like the Medicine skill? Or Science? Or Repair? Isn't that just as important to fallout as the fighting?

I can imagine you could use those skills to craft stuff, but that can't be it. I hated how in Fallout 3, the medicine skill was almost ENTIRELY used to heal yourself. What about others? I'd like the chance to play the Doctor to the fullest, to heal others just as well as myself. Make stimpacks just as easy to use as other as it is yourself. What about the Repair skill? Fixing weapons and armor is nice...but what else? What if I wanna fix the streetlight in the middle of the road just so I can have light? And what if I wanted to be a scientist that did more than just hack terminals? Couldn't I be a chemist? Collecting samples of mutant creatures to use as new poisons? I could think of more.

I would love gamesas forever if they did all that. And more! Make these non-combat skills usefull and versatile. After all, not every person is violent, and even so, wouldn't you want more creative ways to kill as well? Maybe hot-wire a nearby robot to kill for you? Or poison chems for you're enemys to use and die?

What do you guys think?
