Non-Follower spouse, How do I make into a companion?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 4:25 am

I wanted to get Perth and make into him into a companion. I tried this tutorial called Creating a Companion (http://www.creationkit.com/Creating_a_Companion) and I tried it on Perth but did not work. He still was not a companion. I even tried "Anyone as follower or spouse plus divorce option". And I put Bat follower in the console and the only dialogue he had was "You know" . I press "You know" and it closed the dialogue window. I think the reason he says "You know" is because I have a mod called "UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul". I tried disabling UFO and now when I did Bat follower, he had no dialogue at all. Does anyone know how to make a Non-follower spouse into a companion?

I'm not sure where these commands come from so I assume they're from UFO. I would definitely disabling that initially. Also, use either a new save game or an old one from before you starting using UFO.

I looked over the tutorial and it looks well written. Since you're using an NPC that's already built you don't have to do everything it says. Do only steps #2 and #3 on Perth. Then save that to a new .esp and make sure it is the only active mod when you go into the game. See if it works right then turn your other mods back on to see if there are some conflicts.

I was curious and I couldn't get him to be a follower either. I'm guessing the Soljund's Sinkhole quest is getting in the way. Could be his AI Packages or something else I missed. Now sure how to get around this.

Easiest way would be to copy him then clear out all the extra garbage and make sure the stuff in the tutorial is in place. That would give you the look, voice, and such. If you want to steal the Real Thing away from the mine we'll have to see if someone else has any ideas.

Thank You Aenara for checking it out for me. I will check about his packages. I will post back and update if he works or not.

Update:
I did a test and I used Stenvar because he can be a follower and I changed Stenvar looks to what I wanted and then I changed his voice to Perth. When I did that, after I married him, he was longer my follower. He acted like if he was Perth. I think the problem is in Perth voice. If I put Perth voice on any follower, it breaks them from being a follower. I hope someone knows how to fix this problem.

Not all voice sets have follower dialogue recorded, and the follower system blocks those that don't from being followers (by checking against the VoicesFollower* formlists). Perth uses the MaleCommoner voicetype, which is one that does not have follower dialogue recorded (or at least, it's not in the required formlists).

Is there anyway to mod with the CK to allow follower dialogue with MaleCommoner voicetype?

Update:
Thank you DreamKing. You gave me the idea to search Nexus for voices. And then I saw a Mod on Skyrim Nexus called "Additional Vanilla NPC Follower Voice Types". I tried it and it works, now I can have Perth as a companion.
