Noob Lighting Help Please

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:13 am

ok, I like messing with the GECK, but I am no scripter at all.

I have been messing with a light switch and light for a few hours now and it's getting OLD.

I watched a tutorial, but the problem I run into is that when I have a two lights, I can't select one as a parent. when I use the button I get a red circle target cursor and it won't change to white no matter what I point it at. I tried a bunch of stuff after I couldn't get it to pick the on light.

Then I tried some other things and couldn't get this red cursor to ever change. I am missing something when it comes to enable parrent funciton.

If anyone has a really easy to understand tut on making a light switch and light work together, please link it to me.

1. Why am I not able to pick a parent.

2. Link to very basic lighting help.

Thanks :)

About it staying red: double click on the light and check the box "Persistent reference" at the bottom.

Thank you :) That did the trick on the parent thing. I have lights!

Edit.. Scripts save for me if I use the editor, not the in item script window. So that works.
