Noob Question About New Spells

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 1:45 am

Hey all.

Been lurking around the forums for a while, but figured I would throw this out there.

Skyrim is my first in-depth TES game...played around with OB a bit. My question is when do new spells start showing up? I've put in around 80 hours, and am at level 33, but every NPC selling spells have the same ones that were available from the start of the game. Is there a certain quest line that needs to be done in order to expand the number of spells available? I've not done much of the Main Quests...been too busy exploring and doing some of the Daedric quests.

Thanks for any help!

When you have a high enough skill in the relevant school, higher-tier spells will start showing up in certain spell merchants' inventories. The teachers at the College of Winterhold are probably your best bet for finding new spells, but a couple of court wizards will also sell better spells when you have high skill levels. Your player level does not matter... all that matters is skill level.

Levels 40+ for adept spells, level 65+ for expert.

Every Jarl has a court mage that sells you spells, but they seem almost at random. The best solution is to visit Collage of Winterhold, since all master spells can be learn only there.
