Hi sup guys, so i just recently bought this game and i'm like 12 hours in, but i feel i wanna make a new build so i can get the most out of this great game.

So what i wanna have some help with is everything i guess, what kinda build would make me not to "miss out" on anything.
But i play with guns and light armor now, so i want to use mostly energy weapons, but could make an exception on a powerful gun or something like that, and use heavy armor.

so..
1. What skills should i focus on?
2. What perks to choose, i find this pretty difficult at the time because i dont wanna miss out on anything, as stated above.
3. Weapons, armor, companions ?
4. And just what i should do, where i should go and stuff like that.

Thanks for reading and help :)

Skills: Speech and sneak if your not concentrated on fighting. Guns/etc if you are. Repair/science/etc are basically optional.

Perks: i think at level 20 something, you can get a perk that discovers everywhere. I recommend that. The rest is up to you, they dont really matter as long as you chose the ones your going to use.

Weapons etc: Gauss Rifle, Power Armour are best for fighting. Boone and ED-E are possibly the best companions.

Other: Do the main quest.

Thanks for the fast answer man.

But hey, the SPECIAL stuff ?
Is it worth it to take the Intense Training perk or what it's called, to possibly max out some stats there ?

You WILL miss out on stuff though, the game's about replayability, so play through the game once then create another character and do the rest, then create a third for the things you might have missed.

S 6
P 1
E 6
C 1
I 6
A 6
L 9

Should suffice for an EW build, CHA and PER don't do anything worthwhile really, PER is useful for the Better Criticals perk but I don't consider it very necessary to waste 5 stat points on.

Skills - tagged
Energy Weapons
Science (converting cells)
Repair (for Jury Rigging, EW cost a lot to repair.)

Skills - secondary
Medicine (if on hardcoe Mode)
Lockpick (lots of fun stuff to miss out on if you don't have lockpick)
Speech (To solve quests the peaceful way and to open up more options for your character)

Traits
Trigger Discipline
Born To Destroy

Not really, it depends on what kinda character you have in mind.
Some perks are very standard though.
Like Finesse, Black Widow, Cherchez Le Femme, Solar Powered.
But yeah I have no idea what perks you should pick, I just roll with it and pick the one's I like that are available to me.

Head to Dead Wind Cavern. Best loot in the game there, plus some caps, and hardly any enemies.

I dont know what's with all the Charisma 1 builds, it makes your companions useless. Boone will lose against 3 legion recruits with a charisma of 1! You really want your companions to be that weak? Hell, with a charisma of 1 it's not even worth recruiting them, they'll just annoy you by getting ''unconscious'' all the time.

Companions are still pretty good with Charisma 1, and if you ain't playing hardcoe you don't have to worry about them dieing. Besides, people likes to kill things themselves (but with backup.)

Charisma helps with barter and speech which are helpful right from the start of the game. I start out lowering strength by 1 and adding points to perception, charisma, intelligence and agility, which gives higher energy weapons, guns, lockpick, speech, barter, sneak, repair and science.

ASAP I add comprehension, retention and then intense training.

For EW?
I'd say so, the higher the critical chance the better the weapons are.

Alright thanks guys.
So I'm gonna bring this to the game now and start my new character, and this is how his skills and stuff will probably look like:

S 6
P 1
E 6
C 1
I 6
A 6
L 9

Skills - tagged
Energy Weapons
Science (converting cells)
Repair (for Jury Rigging, EW cost a lot to repair.)

Skills - secondary
Explosives (Fun to blast stuff up)
Lockpick (lots of fun stuff to miss out on if you don't have lockpick)
Speech (To solve quests the peaceful way and to open up more options for your character)

Traits
Trigger Discipline
Built To Destroy
Maybe Wild Wasteland, just to try it out.

Looks good ?
Is it worth it to try out the Wild Wasteland trait ?

Looks good enough for me, since you're not on hardcoe Mode medicine, survival and charisma are useless IMO anyway.

And perception is just plain crap, can just get eddy as a companion to see the red dots from a far on the compass.

I never pick a lot of Agility but I think there might be a perk or two worth an okay AGI.

Since we get so much health and such good armors anyway I don't think Endurance is of much use except to get implants.
With each point in END you can get an implant, so 1 END = 1 implant while 10 END = 10 implants (all).

Only need STR 6 with the perk Weapon Handling to wield every weapon without a STR penalty.

So yeah to me it looks like a great character.

Born To Destroy goes very well with Raul though, remember to pick him up since it nullifies the bad effect from the trait.

Thanks man.
What do You think about the Wild Wasteland ?
Shoul I give it a shot, I mean, it's only my 2nd char.

EDIT: I read some about Wild Wasteland and decided I won't use it.

I'd say save it for your third one, Trigger Discipline is good for EW and Guns and Born To Destroy is very good for an EW crit build.
Wild Wasteland is barely noticeable anyway, might be good to save it for when you've experienced most of the game and want some freshness.
