A Nord amongst Nords

Post » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:18 pm

Hey I'm going to make a new character who is a Nord and basically a pure fighter with shield and sword, but im trying to decide on a name. Which sounds more Nordic? Bormir or Forthirc? I like BormIr, but I feel like its too close to Boromir from LOTR

If you like Bormir then go with Bormir. Names may be an indication, but it is very possible to have a "non-appropriate" name for a character. Brand-Shei for example have an Argonian name since he was raised by Argonians, yet he is a Dunmer.
My Nord Crusader is called Tynon for example, since he was born in Cyrodiil and raised by Imperials.

My Nord warrior chick is named X'reena. RPing that she was raised by Khajiit warriors in the deserts of Elswyre. Hence her dark ass tan. :P

Now you make me want to do something like that and abandon my lvl 20 Bosmer Thief.

Bormir sounds more "Nord" to me. But take the one you like best, it's YOU and no one else who's going to see that name through an entire game. ;)

I'd say Bormir. I always go with Bodolf. Means wolf leader in Norse language, which is appropriate since I'm a werewolf, and leader of the companions.

Yeah I might go with Bormir or maybe Eric (Erich, whichever is more nordic) Snow-mane.

Where did you go to find out its meaning? I need to find a site where I can find a norse name for my character that would speak out who he is on the inside

I had a book about Norse related things including names, but I'm sure you can find something similar on the internet.
