Nords are cowards...

The screenshot?

From the thread, "things that make you go rofl"

It's my impression of the companions, now. At least it adds depth to the characters. The whole Sovngarde or victory thing is stale. It's interesting that they portray themselves as fearless warriors who embrace death, and yet...

Game mechanic vs lore. Should oversights like the restoration glitch also be overgeneralized and presented as “all mages are [censored] since I found a way to make uber potions/enchantments still being an apprentice while they weren’t able to In their 4000 years of life”?

If you say so. I don't play a mage. Then again, if I did, I'd consider myself the best mage ever, so I wouldn't have a problem with lore.

I called Vilkas pathetic... not the screenshot....

I think it's funny when gameplay or a mechanic contradicts lore.

If you don't like me generalizing Nords, then let's say Skyrim's guards are cowards. They're inconsistent. They'll defend the city from beasts. I rarely kite beasts into cities, though. So, the few times I've expected the guards to act as guards, they've failed. So...in my experience, they're cowards (and they're all Nords, so I've got a decent sample size of Nords who are cowards).

Then you should be laughing your ass off while playing every single TES title. I don’t know why they write stuff and refuse to make it work the way they wrote it, but they do A LOT. The Khajiit you see is actualy not the most common version of the Khajiit in TES, the most common version looks a lot like bosmer with tattoos all over its face but noo we had to get the furry kitty one instead of the most common one that is suposed to be everywhere according to lore.

Pretty much. I knew about the variety of cats, but didn't know which were common.

Since the vast majority of my TES exposure comes from TES 3, 4, and 5, I accept what's included in those games as lore. Everything else that is written, I consider fabrication or exaggeration.

Hey, now - quit with the spamming or I'll have to dust off Ol' Spikey (the banhammer, which also doubles as a torturing device. Handy like that.)

This does make for strange moments such as the guards turning a blind eye to you being assaulted. Because of the following mechanics
1. Assaulting the dragonborn is not counted as a crime
2. You are not in the Guards faction
3. The hire thugs are non-hostile to guards.

The most funny part is I have seem Stormcloaks refuse aid when I run into their camp with Thamlor Justicars hot on my trail.

There are more Nords in the Nord homeland. Therefor it is more likely to see Nords flee than any other race. Simple really...

So, I was doing a quest where I had to kill somebody in a town. I find a nice safe spot where I can go into sneak and not be detected. I fire my bow at the target, and everyone goes hostile and moves to attack me.
*Reloading* I go up to the target and say I'm there to kill them. They pull out a weapon and attack me. I let them get a few hits in, so I can attack in self-defense. The guards don't do anything, but a townsperson or two say that I'll pay for what I did.

One cannot control thoughts and emotions after being hit hard on the head, and it not always leads to unconsciousness. Some will cower because they lost their eyesight and begin to see "stars", others will tumble as if drunk while their sense of balance starts to fail, and some will rise up straight out of shock.

I am not sure if I would really want the game to be all this realistic. Having NPCs drop dead is one thing. Seeing the real consequences depicted like spasms, agony or just watching every NPC bleed to death would certainly stand in a harsh contrast to the rest of the game.

OP clearly suffers from "If I can't see it it doesn't exist" syndrome.

I can't comment. I've been to Japan. If I hadn't though, I'd still be inclined to believe in the Japanese because of the evidence. Evidence in Skyrim indicates that the land is full of cowards (I realize it's a bad game mechanic, but I can't help associating Skyrim guards with helpless men and women who talk a mean game). I think it's pretty funny.

On the one hand, we've got guards who refuse to fight. On the other are villagers, armed with iron daggers who charge dragons. Skyrim's a strange land.

You know the finishing move where you slash a Dragon in the face, then get on top of it and stab it in the skull, killing it? Well Svenn's old mother, from Riverwood, did that in my game.... with an Iron Dagger...

Sure I was mad, but I was also very impressed.

But, yeah, I don't know so much about the Nords being cowards.

That's the npc's not the Nords... Just stupid to say that one race hides and flees when it's all the npc's. It could be Khajiits, Dunmers, Bosmers or any other race

Right, but as others have said, Skyrim is predominantly Nord-filled... so I now associate Nords with that bizarre behavior.
