He doesn't even have a map marker with the new patch.

well, if he is destroyed, then he will not.

NPCs can be killed when they are not directly following you.

Did you send him "Home" while in enemy territory with hostiles near you?

When I send anyone back to the Lucky 38, I tend to wait 24 hours in game after doing that to be safe. But Rex did get killed when I did that in west New Vegas.

he can check if his dead by checking if the perk still there if not then ed e is dead

also what i do when i send companions to lucky 38 i go right infront of the lucky 38 and then tell them to go to it so nothing goes wrong they just walk straight in then they all chill in the presidential suite

I have personally killed ED-E outside of hardcoe mode and never lost his perk while he is an active companion.

I do it for fun!!!

All you need to do is have the Meltdown perk and shoot him with a laser riffle.

That is it..... ED-E goes boom and is gone forever and that perk stays active. You cannot get Rex to follow you, but no more ED-E following you.

This is what happened to me, but I didn't kill him, I didn't tell him to go away, or anything.

invisible ED-E is still an issue after the latest patch. people talk to him like he's behind me and i still have his perk although i cannot send him away.
very annoying that i can't finish the rex quest.

If he's died on hardcoe alas he's gone to the digital boneyard but outside hardcoe mode he will eventually return home either the lucky 38 or where you found him in Primm if you haven't yet visited the mysterious Mr House.
I lost him for ( game ) days after loosing him during a nasty Deathclaw battle clearing some of the nasty blighters during a sub quest for some NCR workmen in Sloan if I recal correctly and he just appears behind me when I enterd Freeside. I'm not aware if he was killed during the encounter or was just at the stealthboys

This is exactly how I lost ED-E in my current playthrough. However, he has not come back after 14 in game days. Not to Primm, not to Lucky 38. Though I haven't gone to Vault 22 yet this time around, so I am not certain that I cannot get him back yet.

I can't get him back. I've tried every vault, elevator, waiting, primm, lucky 38.

After the patch though, I can see exactly where he isn't.

Apparently if you use the 'special weapon' to kill the ants in the Nellis Array, Ed-E glitches and is gone for good.

He appears on my world map, but not the local maps or radar, and his map marker flips from exit to exit depending which door of the nellis array I exit from, but he's gone for good.

Game over, because I can't get into Kai-zars tent because Ed-E is still registered as a companion.

Is this true? Because if so I am screwed. I lost ED-E fighting the Overseer and company in Vault 34 and haven't seen him since. It shows him at Vault 34 on the World Map but nowhere on the Local. But I still have his perk and people make comments about ED-E being in my party.

Obsidian needs to come up with a way to boot party members without having to talk to them. I'm going toss this game out the window if I have to start all over again because of this glitch.

This glitch is a gamebreaker.
I'm lucky I was done with the main quest when this happened, but now I can't play Arcade Gannon's quest.

Just a follow up in case anyone cares....

I have the PS3 slim and I'm playing the new patch. I lost ED-E a long time ago, but I still have his Enhanced Sensors perk and people react as if he is still there with me.

Just to see if my game was totally screwed, I started the Render Unto Caesar quest. I also had Cass as a companion. When I got to Caesar's tent, I was told to leave all companions outside. I told Cass to wait and then .... I was let in! They seemed to disregard ED-E.

Don't know if others will have the same result, but I'm just glad I don't have to start this d*** thing all over again.

i lost ED-E during the mortar attack on the way to Nellis AFB, when back to look for him and no sign at all, i still have the PERK but he ain't there, this is stupid, i can't have a second companion because he's "STILL THERE" but i was able to get into Cesars tent which is weird, can't do the Rex quest either, i hop ethis gets fixed somehow cuz im not starting over and this is making think twice about wanting to play the next one if its gonna be months and months after the release date to make it work properly.

My ED-E is missing too, so is Lily, who I had as a companion at the time. What's really strange is that I was able to find her map marker, but she is not in the spot marked on the map.
