I'm not sold on the PIP-Pad

Mostly it is the name that bothers me. I like the idea of a slightly buggy prototype Pip-device, but why can't it just be called the Pip-Boy 4000? Why the need for the transparent (and IMO not especially clever) Apple parody? And, most importantly, when did Pip become an acronym?

PIP has always been an acronym; Personal Information Processor.

Personally, i think 'PIP-pad' sounds too much like some sort of tampon. "When this epoch began to wind down, the remnants of life once more ventured forth to commence the struggle for survival and dominance. This is the story of some of them" -Damnation Alley

I remember everyone made that joke at the iPad launch, still funny though.

I certainly don't remember any reference to Pip being an acronym, but that does not at all mean I could not have missed it somewhere. I definitely know it has never been spelled that way until now.

what they could do,if they do an IPAD type item, is make it available to scientist types for research since basicly and IPAD is nothing more than a laptop that's condensed. it might not have the same processing power but it can be used in the same way. maybe in their timeline tech advanced enough so it does have comparable processing power to a laptop. Computer technology in the Fallout world if anything seems to be stagnated, so a tablet device just does not gel to me. I hope it at the very least is shown to be cumbersome and impractical. I mean it uses a CRT screen (LCD's do not exist in the Fallout world), which means for a 7 inch screen the device would need to be about 4 inches thick at minimum. I just made up the 7 inch screen thing to make a point, no idea how big the PIP-Pad screen is supposed to be.

For those who have yet to see the PIP-Pad here is a link:
