Now that we have Kinect support I don't even need other DLC

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:16 am

I thought I wanted the quest bugs fixed, new and interesting lands to explore filled with new and exciting adventures, faction quests, an intriguing main quest story, a host of side quests, new NPCs, new weapons armor and items, new enemies, new wildlife, but now that I can shout at my TV I no longer need that.

Well, maybe a couple things would be nice. Instead of all that stuff I thought I wanted before here is a list of what I would now like from Bethesda:

The ability to take my picture and put it on my character.

Emoticons that float above your head to show your mood - you could shout these with Kinect. "Confused!"

In game chat. I don't really need a good game if I can talk to my e-buddies.

Oh, this is a MUST. I want autotune for my Kinect shouts so I sound like a pop star.

I want dancing animations for the Dragonborn. I want to be able to bust a groove all over Falkreath. I was thinking that to go along with Kinect, Beth could add a dance pad to control the character.

What do you think guys?

You are lucky you aren't standing anywhere near my Kinect box because if you were, you would be Fus Ro Dah'd right out of this board.

On a serious note, yes, a kill cam toggle is a must. I don't think I can handle the combined gimmicky-ness of kill cam animations AND Kinect shouts in my TES universe.

I'd like DLC content locked on the disc, and retailer specific pre-oder bonuses.

Does he? I quite agree with him...

I'd have liked an announcement of even one single feature of all the ones he mentions instead of a feature that only 10% of the community can enjoy. Ah, and that is probably lagged to death anyways.

But of course, they've to hail to their Microsoft Overlords...

Good idea.

Oh, and how about if they actually DO give us an arena to battle in, but it is online only and carries a subscription fee. Those who pre-order can change the color of their characters underwear do a brilliant tassled jumpsuit.

As much as it irks me that they chose Kinect support over something that would benefit all players and not just those playing Skyrim on 360, it does make me hopeful for the future of Skyrim.

Why? It's simple really, this is a huge thing to add to a game, especially for free and via patch. Coincidentally, this content had its foundations laid and revealed via the Skyrim gamejam.

Bethesda have already added additional kill-cams from the Gamejam to Skyrim.

Now they're adding this, which also appeared in the Skyrim Gamejam video.

For those of you (who by some miracle) haven't caught on to what I'm hinting at here, I'll be a little less subtle:

Bethesda seem to be working their way through the Gamejam content and trying to integrate it into Skyrim for free. If they've already added these two features, who's to say they aren't going to add even more of them. Spears, new perk trees, darker dungeons, giant enemy mudcrab, the whole lot could be coming to Skyrim.

They could easily have put out this Kinect control content out as a DLC which you'd have to pay for and all the ravenous gimmick monkeys would've thrown money at it.

But no, they're releasing it for free.

I may have my issues with Skyrim, but I can't deny the support Bethesda are offering is second to none at the moment, they're adding new content and trying to fix their mistakes. A lot of developers just wouldn't bother.

Which brings me on to the point I was going to make in the first place: OP, stop acting like such an ungrateful brat, you may not like this new feature. Hell, I don't care for it either, it's a pointless gimmick and Beth could be focusing on more important things. But they're adding new things for free that others would happily charge us for, they could even have waited until they had a release window for the first expansion to Skyrim and slapped Kinect support onto it as a way to get more sales on 360, but they didn't.

All of you, I don't care how much you hate Skyrim, or how much you loved Morrowind. Shut up with your [censored]ing and be grateful for all the free stuff headed our way.

Tl;dr - Beth are making an effort, show some [censored] gratitude.

At the point where I start being optimistic about anything, it's about the right time to start freaking out.

No, I totally get you man. Like I said, I don't even WANT any new gameplay enhancing or expanding releases now that they let me shout at my TV for FREE. I hear you, buddy.

Hey, do you play Club Penguin? We should be friends.

Well, on an optimistic note, yes, this means they're slowly adding GameJam ideas, and that's great by itself :)

I think people need to understand that they would of ...imo, had a small part of the team working on this. The rest will still be working on bug fixes and the dlc.

I play on pc so i get all the benefits of mods etc. So if some 360 users get a bit of kinect support and they enjoy it, good luck to them.

Akataras post made me realize something.

There is nothing, literally NOTHING, that Bethesda could realistically add, that I would really want. Not a single thing could possibly make up for what Skyrim is (or rather, what Skyrim is not).

A positive attitude, very rare in these forums. I could as an Xbox player be upset that you PC players get to mod and I can't but that is the way of things. I know they will probably make it so all players will have voice, but we Xbox players will never get to mod, should i be upset? No, because it was my decision to play it on Xbox.

I started playing TES with Oblivion, more than a year after it was released on PS3. I then played Skyrim and this week I started with Morrowind.

But I am sure that you can find some other way to invalidate my opinion.

Well, maybe if you could tap dance.
