NPC followers problem

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:56 am

Hi, I recently created an NPC followers mod whereby the followers are hirelings, and when a player attempts to interact with them upon meeting there should be two dialogue options: one to purchase their services for 500 gold and another which says 'another time maybe'.

On my own Skyrim installation everything's fine...I get both these dialogue options when I attempt to interact with them. However, 2 users of the mod have pointed out that they only get the 'another time maybe' dialogue option ONLY, and hence they can't purchase their services to enable them as a follower.

I'm a bit confused by this and just wondering where the problem could lie...?

Any help would be appreciated.

This may not be a problem with your mod. If most of the people who are using your mod have not reported this conflict, then it may very well be a mod conflict problem for the one that are having issues. If other mods they have downloaded have dialogue conflicts in them, they may be over-riding your dialogue. I would ask the ones who are having issues to try your mod with their other mods disabled and see if they still have the issue.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking a conflict with some other NPC mod has to be the case. I'm assuming the conflicting NPC mod esp's must be taking priority in the load order somehow, I dunno... It just kind of got me paranoid initially that I could possibly have done something wrong when creating the mod in the CK, but if it works ok at my end then I guess it has to be some kind of fault at theirs!

Unfortunately, until we get a conflict editor (hopefully SkyrimEdit is not too far from completion) to look at our---and others mods--- there will be a lot of "dirty" mods with dialogue errors that override the vanilla dialogue topics. This was a common problem in previous games. The mod that was latest (lowest) in the loading order would override the others. That is why if they disable the other mods and the conflict goes away, then another mod is the culprit.
