NPC Gets Dragged And Tossed Around By Evil Skyrim Spirit

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:25 am

I have this one NPC, who's not really an important character or anything, that acts like he is being grabbed by the shirt collar and then thrown around the room.

Sometimes he'll get stuck on the ceiling, sometimes wrapped around a column, sometimes he'll be dragged across the room lying on the floor and on and on.

It's actually quite funny, but not really what I want, ya know.

Instead of just deleting him and creating a new character I would like to learn why this particular fella seems possessed by some evil Skyrim demon.

Any ideas?

Maybe I'll just rename him Poltergeist :/

When you placed the NPC in the CK, did you place it on a good bit of navmesh and actually on the ground?

Stuff placed in the CK that can be effected by the havok physics system will "settle" - if it not settled in position in the CK - when the PC enters a cell (books are famous for it!). So I think an NPC will work the same way?

Try moving its starting position and see if that fixes it.

(I once had a potion that would continue to "settle", over and over again. I wanted it to fall to the floor - with a crash! - but only the once. I figured out that it was falling, falling, falling because it was too close to a wall - so I guess something to do with the collision boxes involved?)

Naw, he's placed ok.

I usually place a character, or just about everything, then lift them up and press the F key to drop to floor level. He starts out almost in the middle of the room and the whole thing is bordered, tested and then finalized, navmesh-wise.

He has no scripts attached and in every way just a normal NPC you would plant that you changed the name of.

I have tried to place him on other parts of the room, it's the tavern in the mod, and other things.

Like I said before. It's very funny though!

I have no idea, then. But if its very funny you should hide it away somewhere and have a quest for the PC to go find it and laugh at it! ;)

If you do figure out what was the problem, post ... but I would just be deleting and re-adding (to see if that fixed it) if I were you.
