They will not leave the celler area.
Both of them never appear on the ground level room of the location, if I walk outside the sniper dude will some times appear but ed-e will not appear outside ever.

The game also CTD on me after about a minute of wondering the map not realizing my buddies were not there, this is the first CTD I've had and I'm 40 hours into the game now.'

Yeah it happened to me a while back, all I had to do was get Ed-e to stay put outside and then go back inside and get Boone.

Right but ed-e's stuck down there.

I went to go pull one of my many autosaves I do and the game has lost 4 hours worth of autosaves now, it goes from hour 35 to hour 39, prob had at least manual saves in those 4 hours.

What the heck

You could try telling both of them to leave (ED-E will go back to primm, Boon will go back to Novac). Wait outside for 24 hours or so, then go back and pick them up again.

OK it turns out I did what pantera said but backwards, I left boon outside and was able to get ed-e.
(then boone somehow got stuck in the wall but I was able to get that worked out)
