NPC's do the darndest things

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:11 am

Was stealthing around in a mage dungeon just now, and was coming up to where I knew a spellsword was lurking. Got careless, and she caught a glimpse of me- I snuck away quick and avoided a fight, but during the short time while she was in caution/alert mode, she did what she was programmed to do in defense- resurrect a nearby dead thing to assist her. I knew there were no human corpses near there at all, so didn't know what it was that she'd rez'ed. I just waited until the red dots disappeared from the compass, and snuck back in and backstabbed her to death. While looting the area, I found the ash pile from her resurrection spell, so I looted it- a chicken briast. She had resurrected a chicken to assist her, from a nearby plate of food.

These NPC's scare me, sometimes.

You can resurrect pretty much anything that's not a dragon. I haven't tried giants or mammoths, but I do like rezzing a chaurus or two and giving the falmer a taste of their own poison!

I was near Fellglow Keep earlier today and one of the mages outside ressurected a fox to fight for him. The fox may have been killed by the dragon that was attacking the Keep when I arrived.

Go into your magic/spells menu, and check the menu header farthest to the right- it's your overall list of buffs and debuffs active on your character- if you have a disease or poison affecting you, it will be listed there in red letters. Could have gotten rockjoint from being bit by a wolf, or maybe vampirism from being hit by a vamp.

(( Chickens can't attack, I know this as I cast Frenzy on them all the time and lead them away from the towns. ))

If you are a Werewolf, you are immune to all diseases, yet Arcadia at Arcadia's cauldron still asks me if I have ataxia. It's just a standard intro line.

Dust mound from a dead again thralled chicken,...

I wondered what the 11th herb and spice was.

Skyrim Fried Chicken, just not so Southern.

You can thrall a chicken. *ROFL*

Unfortunately, only NPC's can be thralled. Unless you're on PC, and download http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8295.

once, while I was talking with whiterun's jarl, lydia decided to climb up his throne and stand above his head, and she stood up there for all conversation saying "need something?"

Yes, the NPCs do strange things. It is funny when they expect a chicken to defend them so I won't complain.

i forgot the mining town south of Windhelm.

when I'm there, a dragon pop and attack the town, few of the clothy NPCs, take up their dagger, and go whack the dragon.
you can guess the end result.

My NPC's do that too, they'll charge into battle alongside me, we charge headlong into the heat of battle to slay the Dragon; battle cries of "You shouldn't have come here!" and "I'll make a fine rug out of you... Cat!"... Wait what? Faendal what the heck did you just say?

But still we charge! Until Hod is picked up and thrown into the river, then they all scream and run away as I'm forced to defend Riverwood with Kharjo. Strange times in Skyrim.

I have resurrected Giants. Not a pretty sight, but he was quite good at smacking the Whiterun Guards for me.

Ulfric seems to get bit confused if you sit in his throne during his big into speech. When I tried it he stood on my lap and kept talking.

I was walking through Riverwood at night once and spotted one of the chickens. For no particular reason, I pulled out my bow and shot it. I got the message "40 bounty added to Whiterun." Then, a second or two later "Last witness eliminated. Bounty removed." So basically, just as the chicken died, it called me a murderer but nobody was around to hear it.

I was once approaching a junction between two roads over near Windhaven, when I saw a figure walking along the other road. It turned out to be Talsgar the Wanderer, so I had a quick chat with him before he went on along on his way. Suddenly there was a roar and a cry and he was fighting two bears. I ran up to help, Thunderbolting away, and with Lydia pouring in the arrows we soon dealt with the bears. Talsgar had been hurt, so I switched to Heal Other and cast it on him. He took this as an attack, and turned on me! But before I could switch to Calm to settle him down, Lydia charged in and biffed him clear across the road with her warhammer. So now I have no Talsgar in my Skyrim, thanks to the idiot-NPC-factor working x2.
