NPCs are so fudging weak! Falion gets pwned by a Mudcrab

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 3:36 am

Has Bethesda made many of these NPC's purposely weak to make the dragonborn appear more worthy? So Falion is this town wizard and not just some wizard, but also a conjuration MASTER trainer yet he gets owned by a fudging mudcrab. Nowhere did he even use any source of conjuration spells, just to use his flabby iron dagger. Mind you why do wizards need daggers anyways? pure mages aren't suppose to be carrying around daggers.... they have magic to use instead.

The Jarl should fire his ass for not able to protect the town.

NPCs are a lot tougher at higher difficulties. I think it's because they all take half the damge they normally would.

I'm playing on master level and I'm on level 56 so this guy should be an ass kicker, yet it's the mudcrab that did all of the ass kicking, not the towns wizard.

NPCs generally remain at level when you first enteracted with them. So I'd say Falion would be at the lvl when dragonreach was first discovered by you. Which I assume would be around level 10 to 20.

Wrong mage. Falion's the Court Wizard in Morthal. He treats your vampirism.

My bad. Got him mixed up with Farengar. Anyway here some info on him. It doesn't look like he levels with the PC.

Bethesda games have always been one big babysitting session for me.

Yeah there's been an issue with NPCs/followers leveling up properly after you first meet them. You can console command your way around it but otherwise you're stuck with watching the citizens of Skyrim succumb to their fate against wolves and mudcrabs and strong gusts of wind.

The title to this thread should be, "Mudcrabs are so fudging OP!"

Mages carry iron daggers to use as ground rods when dealing with shock spells. True story.

"I saw a mudcrab the other day. Disgusting creatures!"

In all seriousness, mudcrabs are no joke. My last character dabbled heavily in illusion, so I spent a of time running around and frenzying things. Mud crabs can easily defeat frenzied wolves (up to three at a time!) as well as misc deer and elk. Sabercats usually take more than a hit to kill them, which is pretty good considering sabercats can two shot ME at lower levels.

Mudcrabs has pretty high damage output, maybe on par with bears. But they are slow and have low hit points.

I'm rather surprise to see that they can be taken down that easy. Their shells appears to be tough, and a good source of armor.
