Nuke Riften

Kill the TG and Black-Briar family then Riften can easily be the best place in Skyrim to live in. Due to where it is, and if the right people are controlling the it, then the city's economy will grow quite quickly. Only problem is the TG and Black-Briar Family, specially Maven Black-Briars. She is hogging all the money going through Riften, if you ask me.

easily fixed, not that it would be a problem since nothing can happen outside the cell you're in, make it so any (Actually) important characters (not some dirt farmer, main quest NPCs and maybe guild NPCs only) can only be killed by the player. problem solved

I agree with you.

From Bethesda's perspective though, would likely generate a flood of complaints re: "why'd the game let me kill that NPC that was needed for a quest I now want to do".

It's funny ... it was a similar "any way to clean up" Riften question that brought me to this forum in the first place.

Yeah, except in the example you responded to, reloading isn't going to stop a frost spider from killing an essential NPC while you're across the continent.

Except the Essential NPC would not be attacked unless the PC is in the same cell.

Bethesda fired the suspension of disbelief team and replaced them with members of the Iphone and CoD teams.

Probably because
Spoiler
Just about everyone dies in the end of the DB quest line, you can't kill the little kid in the dark brotherhood. And there is also an alternative quest line where you destroy the dark brotherhood, there is no such thing in the Thieves guild.

Although I've gotta say, there should be! As well as we should have the oppurtunity to
Spoiler
join the Silver Hand and wipe out the Companions

Would be a great return to some of the good Morrowind features. I also want to destroy that Black Briar [censored], not simply by killing her, but by destroying her income and making hers the poorest family in all of Skyrim!

Or kill her and her family then force the Brewery to listen to you so you are the boss then give away all the money you make to those who actually need it.

bethesda should reply: "grow a spine and give the game back. good day."
honestly those people should go face the consequnce of their actions for a change and stop playing RPGs, since RPGs are all about action and reaction, chocie and consequnce, i should be able to kill anyone i want but some kids deny me that -_-

True, but if you could do all these things it would affect the lore of the later games
Spoiler
You can destroy the dark brotherhood, yes, but that happens anyways, and then they can say that the last few remaining members killed the emperor and started rebuilding. The save goes for the civil war which they probably won't explain because the Thalmor most likely will show up and take over.

Riften is a corrupt city but there are plenty of nice people there and Honeyside is a nice house. I like it.

Well the possiblities in Morrowind
Spoiler
where you had to kill certain guild masters in order to become guild master of another guild
didn't affect the Lore.

And Honeyside + Iona are most certainly nice about Riften, as well as Mjoll, I love that woman. (Although the best Beth NPC still is Moira vom FO3 ^^)

Indeed, and by the way the best Beth NPC is Crassius Curio

Not really. If you decided to play the game without killing everyone and some quest related NPC dies because he's attacked by a Giant Frostspider. You'd be on the forums saying the worst thing Beth ever did was make all NPC's killable.

A ridiculous example. I have never seen one instance where a random member of a town wandered off into the wilderness and got killed by an animal. For the most part, they remain in their immediate vicinity. They simply aren't that erratic. Dragons are really the only time you have to worry about random events killing NPC's, and you can easily make special NPC's immune to dragon attacks, as has been suggested on this forum many times. Now, if you were to lure a Giant towards one of the smaller towns and watched as it killed all of the occupants, they should not be immune to such things as it was you that instigated the event.

The only other instance I can think of is random NPC's fighting each other. I've heard that this happens, but have never witnessed it personally. If it really does happen, setting immunity to everything but the player would solve the problem.

While Crassius certainly had his perks (writing The Lusty Argonian Maid is awesome ^^), Moira is better! I love that crazy, scientific curiosity of hers (as well as her being the only survivor of the Megaton detonation, if you so choose). Damn, if there would have been a marriage option in FO3 I would've married her so hard. ^^

But I digress...

//edit

Damn german beer + writing in English ^^
