Number of Followers? : Fallout: New Vegas

Whats the maximum amount of followers you can have at one time? right now i have 2, Cass and the Robo Dog but i found another one, Veronica but the only speach options i have wont let her follow me. Do i have to get rid of one of my followers to get Veronica?

You can have 1 human and 1 nonhuman companion at any given time.

Max Followers = 1 Humanoid + 1 Non-Humanoid. (Rex and ED-E are the two "non-humanoid" possiblities)

Yes, you'll have to dismiss Cass if you want to take Veronica with you.

If youre ncr 'liked' you get the emergency radio and can call in for a ncr soldier to follow you in addition to your humanoid and non humanoid follower. theres no companion wheel for them though.
