"Be Objective" 2/3 Star Tips

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:01 am

I will be honest. . .The only reason I beat the 2 star challenge was luck. 3/4 into the challenge you have to place a hack box right by the enemy spawn. I somehow managed to make it happen by the hair of my chinny chin chin. Did anyone own on this? What did you do to effectively get past that part?

That part of the mission was pretty hard, lol. You are close to their spawn and you have to be in the open for a little bit. Really, the only thing it comes down to (as it always does) is timing. You need to make sure that your teammates are all there and alive and your opponents are all dead. After that, plant the hackbox and run around to the other side of the wall so you don't get picked off. You need to drop the PDA if an enemy is near you. The most important thing is to stop them from disarming it as an engineer.

I have tried a few tactics like not switching to operative until I have set up turrets and landmines but that usually doesnt work very well. I have tried attacking from different areas as well and that seems to just complicate things further.

I finally lucked out on this challenge yesterday. For the record, I am usually able to complete the Soldier and Enigeer objectives no problem. The Operative objective is complete bull [censored]. But yesterday, during one of my attempts, the bad guys just completely ignored my hackbox and I was able to complete the hack (at the expense of my own life, twice, since they chose to hunt down the hacker as opposed to killing the hack itself). The intel bit was a little tricky because they choked the single exit, but on the next spawn I killed them all first and the rest of it was fine.

In case it helps, I used a new character, Medium build, with the Mossington shotgun and the CARB-9 SMG as a secondary. I went for the most damaging, highest rate of fire, and close-quarters as I could to clear out the enemy.

Even then, like I said, I hit upon a great deal of luck I have never seen before or since. I can only hope you all experience that luck too.

I think the major problem with this challenge is that the enemies respawn to quickly .. combine that with a small map and its a pain. I have taken out all of them while trying to do the first part and by the time I plant the bomb they are back out there.

Just start a new character and use it for the challenges. This way the enemies are capped at your level without all the abilities they would otherwise have.

Also, anyone find a good way to get engineers to disarm mines? I'm on PS3 so I'm at the mercy of the bots.

Correct but my buddy pointed out that even if you start a new character it does not pass over to your lvl 20. . .

Much as I hate to say it...

BE HEAVY.

it makes SO much difference on Be Objective. It actually shows off that Heavies ARE the objective [censored]s of the game - if you're going for side objectives, or running interference, by all means, go Light (I know I do), but to take those primaries - more health will always win out.

McGregor is right, to do the challenges just start a new player and deck him out with you're best weapons. The health and skill of the enemy AI is directly proportional to you're level/stats. Makes things a hell of a lot easier! You should have no problem with any of them if you do this.

Be objective on three stars is without a doubt the hardest one, best tips I can give are this.
1. As soldier rush hard out of the spawn and toss toss the cocktail asap. Knock them back, plant and get cover.
2. Plant a spawn turret so you buy a few seconds as an engineer.
3. No matter how little you do, keep going back and repair. Don't worry about dying.
4. As an op, get up on the cat walks by climbing up by your spawn, toss a knockdown nade to move quick.
5. Again, don't worry about dying.
6. Uploading the intel go back towards your spawn and climb the same route. Chance are you'll die first run and the enemy will attempt to return it and since you are so close to your spawn, hold the trigger and knock a few back.
7. Upload that [censored] and WIN!

-Run out of the spawn gates and plant the HE Charge IMMEDIATELY. After this, slide around the right corner, away from the enemy bots. when an engineer comes over to disarm the HE Charge, throw a molotov in his face, followed by a cooked frag.

-When you have to hack the console, place the hack box, connect, and run around the pillar, right up to your Command Post that you freed up with the HE charge. You will hack just as fast, with a fraction of the danger.

lol i disagree i think that you should use the light because you can climb up to the higher levels before the enemies are even their and complete the objective, at least thats how it worked for me
when i tried with the heavy i was way to slow and they slaughtered me, i guess it's just personal preference

All 1 and 2 star challenges were easy for me. Probably because I did them right away. The AI is smarter when you're higher ranked.

Outside that Challenge, I've stuck with Light from the moment I unlocked it.

But that Hack Objective in the middle of the enemy spawn is brutal when you can't take those extra few hits. I took my MG and waded in, then when everyone was down, I went to work.

As a Light, I couldn't even reach the objective, even with the whole team backing me, the enemy always preferentially shot at me. When I went Medium, I could reach the objective, and occasionally playe my hack box, but then I'd die and their Engies would show up. Heavy worked for me, even though it doesn't in any other situation.

I beat the Be Objective 3 Star to unlock leaderboards today. Here's some tips: Get to the bomb plant as fast as you can. I was light body type. Medium was too slow for me to win this objective. I did it with Light. Defend the bomb by throwing Muzzletops and frags. Once you switch to engineer, you want to place a turret to the far left back side of the map facing where the enemy spawns. As soon as its set up, run straight towards the stairs. You are hoping the the turret takes out any enemy under the stairs and at their spawn area. Try to get the engineer to fix as much as you can before you die. Rinse and repeat with setting up a turret in the same spot until you get that objective completed. You will need a good 5 minutes remaining to try for the Operative portion which is the toughest. Try to disguise if you can is best to get to the hack box. As soon as you get the hack on, CROUCH down next to the box just in front of the hack to give yourself cover and stay hidden. Not right in front of the hack, but if you backed up 3 feet, there is a box facing the enemy spawn. Crouch next to it! Don't try to run around, you will just die. I noticed by crouching, you are harder to hit, and the meter fills up faster because you are so close to the hack box. The faster you can do everything, the slower the A I reacts. Smooth movement is your friend. Any time you get hung up on the environment you risk losing the objective. When you are crouched down hacking, just turn and face the enemy spawn so that they don't shoot you because you can see them coming. Thats what I did. I took a bunch of tries until I worked out a strategy. The rest of its a lot easier, just an all out run to upload the data.

I haven't tried the three star one yet but I would imagine my two star strategy would work on it too. After simply trying to rush it and live through the damage as a heavy a few times and failing, I realized that the disguise skill is actually tremendously useful for the objective because of its proximity to their spawn. What I did was wait for an enemy to go over to the boxes to the left of the objective and then kill him, use the cover of the boxes to disguise, and then go do the hack. If you're heavy, you should be able to tank the damage you take while doing the initial animation after your disguise is lost. Once you have your PDA in your hand you can go to the other side of the wall and have your teammates cover you while it completes.

the main difference between 2 star and 3 is you have less time to react. And you can't make any movement mistakes, like backing up into beams, or running into walls and stuff. Time is your enemy. 3 star is designed to force you into making mistakes. Too many mistakes and you use up too much time and will fail. The Operative Hack literally takes the longest because it can be stopped and you have to start over unlike the engineer which is a progress meter.

Are yall playing on Xbox? I'm finding the PC version to be ridiculous on the 2nd star. The friendly team mates don't do anything except die. Most of the time they run out in the open and get killed. This challenge feels more like luck than skill. I watched the xbox version and the team mates were actually healing and rezzing... if only... Furthest I got was the Hackbox and I can't even touch it.

The biggest issue with this challenge is that it gets much, much more difficult as you level up.

Ok Here is what I came up with and it took 2 attempts:
(LVL 16)

Before placing the hack box I went engineer. (Dual landmines then a turret on the second floor at the last objective point *data input*) Now people complain about turrets but the enemy AI is likes flies on poop to the turret, which pulls the heavy class and engineers off long enough to set the hack box and let it get to about 25% before they realize whats going on and come back. By that point, I have the 2 mines in place(Far enough away that they dont blow each other up) and a sticky grenade and frag to wrap it up). Once that is done you do the opposite to input the data. Set a turret on the second floor on the same corner opposite side of the data input box AND BAM! FTW!

I'm on PS3, and as I said, for me, heavy is the way to go, and yes, Op Disguise is critical to the first part of hacking. Also, work out the shortest routes to each objective as a heavy (that took some practise for me - I'm better when I have more freedom).

Mines and Turrets disappear when you switch to operative. I placed my turret there anyway to see if some enemies would leave but they just stood there killing us. Are you playing on PC or console?
