In Oblivion again

Ultima 7 is freaking awesome. Even if I had trouble knowing how to keep track of things. Playing Ultima 4 at the moment.
Always good to find a fellow Ultima-lover
I had to start a journal to keep track of everything in U7.

Too bad it's impossible to get the other games. EA hates the series too much to make another compilation of it.

At this point, I think we can all agree that Cyrodill is the worst looking realm in Tamriel. :)

Had a good run at Daggerfall the other month. Oblivion looks so much better after that; of course it will look a bit cartoony after playing Skyrim.

Well, it stuck to much to a vivid color palette and the feel was fekunded to much in traditional fantasy which I did not like but it was the best looking game for its time and this is just a minor complaint with the game from me.

I have played about 80 hours of Oblivion before Skyrim, now I have gone back to playing a bit of Oblivion on the side, and I just am really annoyed by my onboard soundcard glitchyness with it. With sound disabled, it runs perfectly fine. With it, it stutters a lot, especially when switching songs or sound effects.

I have searched tirelessly over the internet for a solution but it seems I will have to put money into a new soundcard and I'm planning on buying a new PC this year sometime instead, Oblivion will likely have to wait. :( Unless someone has a solution to this soundcard problem other than disabling the sound! I hate not hearing things in the game! Like I'm deaf! Eh, that sounded bad. No offense to deaf people, I mean, it's just uncomfortable when a lot of the experience for me is the music.

In Skyrim, I will often listen to my own music but in Oblivion there's something a lot more enchanting.

Sounds like you need the 'quiet feet' mod: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/1999

The creatures in oblivion have a separate sound file applied to each foot, so if you encounter a flock of sheep it can give onboard sound cards a nervous breakdown!

There are some terrible textures in Skyrim that look exactly like daggerfall. Have a look in the Windhelm entrance tunnels sometimes.

Also, Skyrim has SOME artistic flair to its graphics, only resembling fine watercolor work more than "cartoon" style work.

Not really, Oblivion was my least favorite of TES games, it was way too mainstream and dumbed down and I never got over the transition from Morrowind. Mods helped a lot, but there is only so much they can do.

Nah, my time with Oblivion is over, I go back to Morrowind still but that game is worth it, Oblivion was one my lesser favourites of the TES series.

I hated oblivion but Skyrim made me appreciate it.
This, so much this. I complained as hell about how Oblivion screw things up, but now, looking back, Oblivion was a masterpiece.

On topic... The music did bring shivers down my spine, but not as much as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWuNf4gxwuM. Especially when this tune is playing and I hear the silt strider howl in the distance...

Listen to this guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrRCmH3k_sQ&feature=related

Does this not make you want to play oblivion again?

It does. Well, actually, it makes me wonder if there is a way to move those soundtracks into the Skyrim folders somewhere so that I can have Skyrim graphics + Oblivion soundtrack!

I do love that Oblivion music.

I would play Oblivion again if only the grass wasn't so very green. It was a wonderful game but is showing its age compared to Skyrim.

The music certainly did tempt me though. But then I remembered that my Dark Elf can jump twice his height and thought against it... silly jumping abilities! (Mind you the Boots of Springheel Jack don't help matters.)

I have no reason to play Oblivion. I like both Morrowind and Skyrim infinitely more.

Still better than fallout new vegas. That game was a total bug/crash fest.

For game engines that is.

One drawback I oblivion was its cartoony graphics. That and the engine.

And the army of Minotaur that replaces all other random enemies after you reach a certain level... and the Oblivion gates... and...

But I still loved it.

I can't play Oblivion any more, now that I've played Skyrim. After I had Skyrim like a month or so, I showed it to my brother, then started up Oblivion to show him Skyrim's predecessor, and it just looked absurdly cartoony. The grass was to vividly green, and so forth. I felt like I had stepped into a Super Mario Brothers game. SMB is a great game and all, but I kept looking for a mushroom that would make me grow to giant size...

thats whats so great about it though, as much as I love skyrim, sometimes its just too cold.
