I'm thinking of going back to playing oblivion instead of skyrim it seems like theres something missing from skyrim I just cant quite put my finger on it does anyone feel the same way?

Yes, I do. While I prefer Morrowind to Oblivion, Oblivion has many things that Skyrim lacks. I've recently done a fresh FCOM installation of Oblivion, in fact.

I just feel like it has more content, with deeper RPG elements. (Whereas Skyrim has a severe lack of the latter.) Couple that with mods, and Oblivion certainly holds its own.

I didn't do "everything" in Oblivion (such as close all the gates). I didn't play Shivering Isles. Once the main quest was done, so was I. As good as Oblivion was, it lacked what I believe Skyrim has. Skyrim is "tighter", meaning I can get to places much easier. The cities are smaller, making them easier to do things in. Combining these means I can spend more time on quests, not running to/from them.

I do feel nostalgic for it, though. But that's normal for me. It's hard to "walk away" from a game that leaves an impact on me. I'll replay Oblivion again, one of these days. It demands it.

While I do enjoy the game, Skyrim is a bit too...first-person shooter-y...for my taste. (Kill cams in a RPG? Really?) I also happen to find the Creation Kit rather infuriating and impossible to work with so I'll have my run of the main quest and probably be done with it until the DLCs come out.

I find Skyrim more fun then Oblivion dont get me wrong though I absolutely loved oblivion I spent hundreds of hours on it back in the day.

I wouldn't consider them to be kill-cams... they're just slo-mo kill sequences. Which are awesome.

The verticality of Skyrim adds too much for me I can't go back to Oblivion...

Nah,I prefer skyrim. But i do love oblivion,Both skyrim and oblivion has something that is missing The old games has something that the new ones dont.

Unfortunately the perspective switch makes me motion sick, as does the camera's headbobbing in general. I'm not one to advocate removing things as I hate that myself and have complained about it at length before, but I would at least like a "Toggle Slo-mo Kills Off" option. And a "Remove headbob" and "Remove crafting I'M ON A BOAT! movement" option because it makes it really hard to do -anything- with the camera jerking around like it has epilepsy.

Even if it didn't give me issues I still find them to look rather out of place. I expect something like that in a game like Halo, not the Elder Scrolls.

Skyrim, but there are certainly things in Oblivion I want in Skyrim e.g. Create-a-spell and plenty of DLC being top.

Your going to make me choose? I guess I'll go with Oblivion.

People prefer Oblivion over Skyrim because it was faster paced and over the top in comparison to Skyrim.

I mean you could one shot punch entire towns to death and run faster than anything else in the world in Oblivion and people like that.

Skyrim tried to bring realism into the equation and people just aren't accepting it.

oblivion feels as if there are more quests, and there a few things from oblivion i'd like in skyrim such as spellmaking and the arena. but skyrim has a much more immersive and realistic world, and has a much better magic system, even if the spells are lacking a bit. imo skyrim is an overall better game.

I grew up on Oblivion. I played Morrowind a little in middle school, but i easily put 600+ hrs in Oblivion and it's expansion. While that does give me nastalgia, remembering all the awesome loot, characters, cities, and quests. I just can't bring myself to go back. The combat system was hack-and-slash, but terribly done.... The magic system, enen though it gave you more effects and creation, looked like [censored] and everyone knows it. And the characters looked just terrible, remember the orcs?!?! Some of the quests weren't as good as everyone remembers, trust me. I think Skyrim may have dumbed down some of the quest, but the completely revamped the inforior systems.

Now everyone compares Morrowind to both Oblivion and Skyrim. Besides lore, it is a completely different game. Different character interactions, different spell sets and uses, different combat, different city layouts, different enemy interactions. Remember the draugr in Morrowind? They ran like a million kilometers a second!

I love em both so i would play both if i had the time. I do prefer the scaling in Skyrim over the way it was done in Oblivion. Other then that they are both excellent with Skyrim being so great i cant tear myself away from the vanilla version and only use one mod which adds nudity for that extra dose of fantasy.

Oblivion is better RPG, Skyrim has better graphics / physics.

nah Oblivion looks like Sh!t now thanks to Skyrim, I mean look at the character heads. Because of that I can barely take Oblivion serious anymore + it had very bad level scaling.

Still playing Skyrim. there are things Oblivion did better but I still like Skyrim more.

Less bugs
the list goes on, but I have gone back to Oblivion as I have a lot of mods that make that game better then Skyrim.

And yes Skyrim is missing something, but it is missing so much you can not put a finger on it lol.

I like both games, personally. I love Morrowind and Daggerfall more, but Oblivion and Skyrim are great games in their own right. If I want deeper roleplaying, I play Daggerfall or Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. If I want a roadtrip, I play Oblivion. If I want a longer version of one, Skyrim. Morrowind is more where the crazy modding stuff goes for now. Hehe.
