Obsidian and Fallout: New Vegas appreciation thread

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 2:35 pm

This is sort of an open letter to Obsidian. A thank you letter of sorts.

I just want to thank the guys and gals at Obsidian for doing what they are doing with Fallout: New Vegas.

That you guys are willing to add so much complexity and put so much into the game instead of taking things out means a lot.
The level of detail put into the game and the appreciation for the game and the fans is awesome from everything ive seen so far.

Also thanks for treating the fans as advlts instead of a bunch of children. You know what I mean. ;)

Everybody else get in here and thank them for all the awesome or tell them what your excited about!!!

... or don't. I mean I guess you could just thank them silently. I just wanted to say my piece. Thanks guys. :foodndrink:

I appreciate all the hard for Obsidian have put into New Vegas, and I respect their goals, but I am not thanking anybody until I've played the game and I'm happy with it.

Not to be a Negative nancy but the the game isn't even out yet it could be Riddled with Bugs. I hope for the best with FNV but you can shower it with praise once its out.

Thank you, Bethesda, for Fallout 3, it's engine with which Obsidian is using to work on New Vegas while you work on TES V, and for not making us wait a tediously long time for another Fallout game as we have had to for TES series by giving Obsidian a chance to make a spin-off. I'll thank Obsidian if I like New Vegas.

Yeah it is a bit early to thank them, even though I trust they will do a great job. We have plenty of time to thank them after the game is released.

This. I appreciate the hard work on this game, but I really can't make any value judgment or thank anyone until I've played it.

While I appreciate the hard work, the listening to the fans, and the colorful flavors New Vegas has show us so far, I think I'll wat until I get my game from Gamestop to decide what is and isn't great about it. Ah what the hell. Thanks Devs Teams.

I heard the game was coming out a while back, but I only realised this week that Obsidian are making it - I can't tell you how happy that has made me! The original fallout games are in my all time top 5, and are still great to play

I am more excited about this than F3 - :celebration:

First of all....Since we have heard about fallout NV, i've noticed bethesda has had alot of crap thrown their way.
I think thats unfair...when i first played fallout 3,i thought it was the best thing since sliced bread & yes after a few weeks/months of playing it thought,oh they could of done this & could of done that....but overall fallout 3 was a very good game & sales & popularity show that.
Fallout 3 & oblivion are my favourate games, but oblivion edges it :).
So i would like to thank bethesda first for what they have done ,they've given me alot of pleasure with fallout 3 & oblivion.
Fallout NV will no doubt be better, because they've seen what can be improved from fallout 3,but lets not forget bethesda set standard/basis for that in the first place..so thanks bethesda :)
If bethesda make the next fallout,we all probably know it will be better than fallout NV...its called progression, each will improve over time.
So once agin thankyou bethesda :)

Also i'm tempted to thank obsidian.....from what i've seen of the game it does look better & i like their ideas, but for now i will hold my judgement on NV.
Never judge a book by its cover.

I certainly would like, and love, to thank both Obsidian and Bethesda for rekindling the whole Fallout universe. I thought the franchise died after Fallout 2 and I was gutted but when Fallout 3 came out I was giddy as goat. Now Fallout New Vegas, in my opinion it sounds more of a sequel than Fallout 3 does, I am totally excited to see what happened back on the West Coast after Fallout 2. I really do hope this game is every bit as funny and awesome like Fallouts 1 and 2 because their humour was absolutely brilliant. Fallout 3 was good but not as humourous and great as it predecessors :fallout:

I am just really appreciative of the fact that they aren't spoiling the game too much and I am very excite for the future projects they may have. I alos don't care if there are bugs as long as they don't destroy my computer or my playability, it comes with the territory. Also thanks for not rushing it either.

I would like to thank bethesda for introducing my mom to Fallout 3 who introduced me to it. It is one of my all time favorite games (especially since EA has messed up the Sims, I miss Maxis).

I appreciate the work that everyone at Obisidian working on New Vegas has put in, from the developers like Sawyer to the guys who built the Gambling minigames to the concept artists.

But I also want to personally thank Sawyer especially, but many of the other developers too for taking their time to talk to us on the forums, both for game-related reasons and non-game-related reasons. That's seriously one of the coolest things I've seen any game company do, and unfortunately I was not a part of the Bethesda forums from when I played The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and even to Fallout 3, so I don't know how the staff has really communicated with the fans. This has been the first time I've been able to talk to game developers and really any member of the entertainment industry. Even on forums for television shows that I go to the producers, staff, writers, etc. don't actually communicate with the fans (and keep in mind I'm not talking about fan forums, I'm talking about the forums of websites that are owned by the same company that runs these shows), so getting to talk with the makers of the games was definitely something I thought was really cool.

But again thanks to everyone at Obsidian for the hard work you've put into the game, and from what I've seen I have no doubts about the game. But I also want to thank Bethesda for teaming up with Obsidian and allowing them to make this game.
