Oddest things to happen in Skyrim

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 3:16 pm

On my first play of Skyrim I toyed about with the main questline, doing the first town-based objectives and slaying my first dragon. On returning to town a courier runs to me... completely naked. Well, in his skivvies. I figured the courriers in Skyrim must be poor, and wore little armour to not hamper their movement. I told my friends about this encounter and they told me No, the courier is not supposed to assault you in his underwear.
Seemed logical at the time.

After locating the Dragon-something-crater and spotting the sleeping beast down below my friend (who was playing at the time) popped it with an arrow. The dragon took flight and being the tactical minded person my chum is, he decided to jump FROM THE MOUNTAIN and get the drop on the flying lizard. Seems he got jammed in the geomatry, as managing to hit the dragon in mid air caused his character to glue itself into the wing until the dragon landed. (We like to think he held on for awesome points)
To add to an already weird scenario, the Fascist Elves showed up. Needless to say we found ourselves fighting side-by-side with a wild dragon that day.

After discovering a few scattered dead bodies (mages) I began to suspect something dangerous lurked. On hearing the roar I pelted towards an Ice Dragon in the distance, locked in combat with a human figure. I got close enough to draw a bow when the dragon fell dead. Wondering if this was a scripted event for a companion NPC I gunned forward only to find... Miaq the liar.
Miaq knows much, tells some. Apparently, Miaq knows how to slay Ice Dragons.

Strangest thing I've seen was that same naked glitch, but it was with the "group of revelers" random encounter. Some naked guy parting with his two naked friends just walks up and hands me a beer. It was perfect, too, because I happened to be playing my sixy Nord lady. So I got naked and partied with them.

I was making my way up to a dragon shrine that has a giant camp nearby, all of a sudden a mammoth fell from the sky and died upon landing, I literally laughed out loud when it happened.

Just rerolled a Pure Mage yesterday. Started up the MQ for shouts and got as far as the first Dragon fight. While waiting for the the DarkElf captain and her men to show up I decided to nap on a handy bedroll one of the guards had laid out. The sole-surviving guard at the tower initially seemed to want to arrest me for stealing an apple or something (30G bounty) but he eventually let it slide as it wasnt worth his time.

I nap for around 6 hours, just until day break, wake up and run outside, magical fire coursing through my fingers just waiting to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting and illprepared target... Only to find the Dragon lying defeated amidst the rubble outside the tower. Anti-climatic!!! (Though its incredibly fitting in terms of Rping this character)

Also as already touched upon in earlier posts, the hardcoe party-goers standing around outside Skyrim's numerous taverns and inns, merrily drinking and dancing alone in their sleeveless shirts during the worst blizzard of the century are pretty damn strange.

I once bought a dwemer bow in Whiterun, exited the shop and met a courier who gave me a letter telling me that someone in Markath heard I bought that bow!
Couriers must be magickal beings...

Especially the one that runs around in just a loincloth.

I really don't want to know where he was carrying my letter...

I was walking down a forest road somewhere and I see two guys up ahead walking just off of the path, so I assume they are bandits. Not wanting to mow them down with arrows just in case they were friendly NPC or townspeople or something I walked up to them and found out it was two Stormcloak soldiers, friends or neutrals, no fighting anyway. At that moment some guy, I think he was an Imperial by the uniform, but I only got a quick glimpse at him so I'm not sure, comes strolling down the road on a horse and the Stormcloaks go into combat mode drawing their weapons but before they can do anything the horse flies off into the sky! It starts zooming around randomly in the air and at one point got stuck on a tree all the while the two Stormcloaks are running around after it on the ground. While this hilarity ensued I turned my gaze from the sky for a moment and noticed someone running towards me, all dressed in brown. I assumed it was an attacking bandit so I draw my sword, but the newcomer just runs right up to me, stares blankly into my face for a second and turns around and runs off again.

I was in stitches laughing, just another day in Skyrim

M'aiq the Dragonborn, awesome.

This must become lore appropriate. The Elder Scrolls told of the Dragonborn, and clearly the Liar bloodline has been pretty consistent over the last few hundred years.

Similar situation happened to me, just outside whiterun, in my situation it was a Imperial noble escorted by a Legionare, it looked like the horse was cougthed in a tornado lol
