Offline patching

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:24 am

Hi,

i have a an issue with patching FO:NV. The problem is that i only have a restricted limit on what I can download per month. I read that the patch is huge (over 2 Gig). I cannot do this with my home computer per steam auto patch.
Is there any way to get the offline patch file because I need to use another Access Point to download the content.

Alternatively: Is it possible to port the patched files from one steam installation to another? (This is not my prefered solution as it will take a lot more time for me).

The patch isnt that big. Its pretty small. The 2GB is for people who bought the retail version and needs to get the rest of the game installed. At most its less then 100MB.

doesn't that defeat the reason to have it on the disc in the first place?

The patch isn't 2Gb, only 200 MB or something like that.

Umm...while 200 MB is indeed ok. I have not installed it yet, does that mean I will have to download another 2 GB in any case if I try to install it?

If this is really true, then this is THE worst game distribution I have ever seen. The man (or woman) who came up with that idea must have left his (her) brain at home...

And just for completion: I don't mind online distribution, but if there is a retail version then I expect and also demand that I do not need to install half the software via an online channel.

Are there any fixes available for this? My original question remains open: Can I download it from another computer and copy it over to my local machine?

i have not heard that u can tranfer it over (the patch), from wat i understand you have to log in steam and then it gets patched. I haven't seen a downloadable patch anywhere. For a game thats single player it svcks how you have to have a decent connection to get anything done with it. Goodluck man

The entire game install files are about 6.9GB (not entirely sure how much is on the retail disk).
