"You're welcome as long as you leave your criminal past behind." What? Leave my criminal past behind? What's the fun in that?
"Go kill an ice wraith." Pfft. No problem. Bring it on.
So I make a side trip to Riften, drop off the Robe, and some other junk, do the ice wraith thing and come back. Then meet his second to get the jagged crown. Now I know what's going to be waiting in the tomb.... Deathlords. So these milk-drinkers go wading half willy nilly running through the place and all get killed except his second. I sneak attack the boss, and grab the crown and other loot, while his second (essential) keeps the other two busy, then go take care of them.
When I get back to Windhelm, I wanted to talk to Ulfric first. Why did I get this feeling of "Ja voll mein Fuehrer!" the entire time. Ah but he's not going to wipe out the elves. Just the Thalmor, so our goals are the same and I give him the crown. So now I'm supposed to give Balgruuf his axe, so that now we see if Balgruuf has an axe to grind -- so this is where this saying comes from. But first I need to do some more Thieves Guild stuff.
And it's really bad when you don't even care if you get caught anymore.
Spoiler
Funny unrelated DB thing: when I did the first attempt on the double of Mede II and was escaping, the Pentius Whateverius guards I got caught by the Solitude guards for a minor B&E crime (40 GP). So I paid the fine. On my last visit to Solitude the Pentius guards were still there, hostile, but would not attack, yet were out of sight to I just killed them. More black marks on Sonja's soul. People tally now up to >500. Daedra have no hold. Hail Sithis!
