Old TES Forum Account

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 2:36 am

I'm not sure if there is a forum support thread/board so please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this...

I was very active on the TES boards back when I played Morrowind. This was before my first child was born, so it was pre-2003.
Have the boards changed hosts or something like that? I was unable to access my old account and registered this one with the email I used back then.
I've come back to the boards because Skyrim is good, but I'm a little embarassed of my join date.

I highly doubt there is any way I can get my old forum account back, but I'm curious as to what happened to it.

Assuming your old acct hasn't been deleted then you should pm http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/365941-gstaff/ with all your new and relevant info on your account.

You can try messaging http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/365941-gstaff/ Depending on how active you were, it could have been purged though.

Admin purges inactive accounts every now and then. If you were able to register a new account with the same email, then your old account is probably gone. Can't hurt to check, though - what was the username?

The user name is the same as my display name, Dukeh.

The last time I was on it was sometime in 2006.

It's probably gone, then: IIRC, the forum software won't let you have the same display name as someone else's username (though I'm not absolutely certain offhand.)

They wouldn't for obvious reasons.
If you've managed to create a new account using the name "Dukeh" and it is identical to your old username then it has been deleted.
Unless Bethesdas databases haven't been set up properly, but I doubt that. :)

Usernames and display names aren't the same thing; some other forums do indeed let you have a display name that's the same as another person's username, assuming of course that the second person has a different username to what you see on screen. In the case of IPB, I think it's configurable.

Just tested, it won't. I don't know if it was possible to have different user- and display names back when the OP registered his old account anyway.

There's no sign of another 'Dukeh' account so it's probably safe to say it was purged. Sorry.
