Let me preface this with a plea for no WoW dissing. I know it's 'hip' to do so, but frankly I don't care much for it, and this is not the place for such things. Thanks!

Anyway, I know there are many WoW refugees / defectors here (I am one of them), so I thought to make a bridge between Azeroth and Skyrim to facilitate the transition, namely by providing WoW-class perk builds. These are just for fun, but there is no reason why you couldn't RP one of these builds if you ignore their origins. Let's begin!

Hunter
  • Archery(14/16): all but Steady Hand.
  • Destruction(9/17): Novice Destruction, Apprentice Destruction, Augmented Flames(2/2), Augmented Shock(2/2), Augmented Frost(2/2), Rune Master.
  • Alteration(4/14): Novice Alteration, Apprentice Alteration, Adept Alteration, Expert Alteration.
  • Light Armor(10/10)
  • One-handed (dual-wield) or Two-handed.
Notes: obviously, keep a war-dog companion by your side at all times. Destruction is only used for runes, which function a lot like traps. I don't know if Impact works with runes, but if so, then take destruction dual-casting. Alteration is used for Magelight (flare) and the Detect spells (tracking). Also, use the Whirlwind Sprint shout (reverse disengage).

Shaman
  • Destruction(17/17)
  • Conjuration(8/16): Novice Conjuration, Apprentice Conjuration, Adept Conjuration, Expert Conjuration, Summoner(2/2), Atromancy, Elemental Potency.
  • Restoration(8/13): Novice Restoration, Apprentice Restoration, Adept Restoration, Expert Restoration, Regeneration, Recovery(2/2), Avoid Death.
  • Enchanting(8/13): Enchanter(5/5), Fire Enchanter, Frost Enchanter, Storm Enchanter.
  • One-handed (dual-wield) or One-handed + shield.
Notes: conjuration is for summoning the familiar and atronachs only. Use light armor or robes. Use the Storm Call, Elemental Fury or Animal Allegiance shouts.

Warlock
  • Destruction(10/17): Novice Destruction, Apprentice Destruction, Adept Destruction, Expert Destruction, Master Destruction, Destruction Dual Casting, Impact, Augmented Flames(2/2), Intense Flames.
  • Conjuration(9/16): Novice Conjuration, Apprentince Conjuration, Adept Conjuration, Expert Conjuration, Master Conjuration, Summoner(2/2), Atromancy, Elemental Potency.
  • Alteration(14/14)
  • Illusion(10/13): all expect Rage, Quiet Casting, Master of the Mind.

Notes: atronachs are Daedra, so I guess they are fair game. Illusion is only used for fear and calm (seduction) spells. Destruction is limited to fire spells. Use the Unrelenting Force shout (death coil).

Death Knight
  • Two Handed(13/19): all (choose between Limbsplitter, Deep Wounds and Skullcrusher).
  • Heavy Armor(8/12): Juggernaut(5/5), Well Fitted, Tower of Strength, Matching Set.
  • Conjuration(7/16): Novice Conjuration, Apprentice Conjuration, Adept Conjuration, Expert Conjuration, Master Conjuration, Necromancy, Dark Souls.
  • Enchanting(13/13)

Notes: conjuration is for undead summoning only. Use the Ice Form shout (chains of ice).

Rogue, Warrior, Mage, Paladin
These are very obvious so I won't bother detailing the builds.

Druid
With no nature spells in Skyrim, this one is a toughy. Best I can think of is doing a resto druid that melees with a two-handed mace. Get infected with lycanthropy, use robes or leather and keep mage armor up.

Priest
Another toughy, as there are no shadow spells in Skyrim. Use all illusion spells (frenzy = mind control), the Disarm shout and pray for the best (pun intended).

Rather than give builds, you should prepare those like you to deal with the new definitions of "level" and how to transform their views of character progression before they get into Skyrim and ruin it for themselves by powerleveling.

Thank you good sir. Together with a healthy stock of potions of resist fire I should be fine. Can smithies craft Asbestos Armor?

Pretty cool.

If you have Lydia with you and she is hurt badly, and you have the spell to heal her, first thing she says, "Are you a healer?"

My reply is, "Yes, and you're my tank, get used to it."

On the warlock build I would take some out of Alteration to put in Conjuration. They should be unrivaled in that. Otherwise looks good.

Priest would be heavy on the 1h mace and restoration skills I think. Stealing all the locks & mages cloth drops as well would be a priority.

I'd say use the Dremora Lord(s), they're closer to a Felguard than the elementals are to any other warlock summon.

You should just complain, like the rest of us, so they actually fix the issues... Instead of encouraging that a severely flawed and over-powered and illogical system should remain in place... One which quickly makes the game itself dull, unless we optionally dumb-it-down ourselves.

So much more productive... Unless you intend to e-mail that to all the new players, and the thousands who have already returned the game for a refund, or just stopped playing the game until the user-mods come-out to fix all the non-core issues.

Besides, it takes less effort to complain, you get more responses, and it comforts us... knowing that we are not alone, and knowing that we are not as handicapped as Bethesda seems to think we are, at playing these games. (Since they seem to have given us every possible advancement that makes it easy for even a 3-yr old beat the game on MASTER and EXPERT, by the time you reach level 25. That might also be an x-box design requirement, since you seem to need things like that to beat games like this with a console-control. Like Halo's auto-targeting and sympathy-buffers, that help stop players from any kind of an actual challenge.)

Pretty cool thread. I don't like WoW, but I wouldn't mind someone modding the class structures into Skyrim. Might make for an interesting game. Of course, this would require additional equipment and spells to be in the game. Which I'm also for.

I know it's a culture shock, but you ex-WoW (and any other MMO game) players really don't need a "comparison" guide when playing Skyrim.

It's simple, in this game there are no:

A- Healers
B- Tanks
C- DPS
D- Crowd Control specilists
E- Raids
F- Ninja Looters
G- Gold Spammers
H- DPS Parsing Elitists
J- Gear Score Checkers
K- Instances
L- PvP
M- Griefers
N- Trade Chat Spammers

.... this list can go on and on.

Play who you want, when you want, how you want... with no "re-rolling" required.

A- Healers: False, with a companion you can in fact play a healer
B- Tanks: False, heavy armor+shield is a fine way to play
C- DPS: False, you do damage per second in this game
D- Crowd Control specilists: False, Illusion
E- Raids: True, you can't really group up with several other people. Obviously, you still raid dungeons though, just by yourself/with one companion.
F- Ninja Looters: True
G- Gold Spammers: Beggars, merchants
H- DPS Parsing Elitists: False, there are several posters here who do this kind of thing for this game
J- Gear Score Checkers: True
K- Instances: Somewhat false, some locations do reset
L- PvP: True
M- Griefers: True
N- Trade Chat Spammers: False, priest of Talos in Whiterun

People always want something more. Too bad Skyrim would be a disaster as a MMO, and it will completely destroy the concept of the TES series.

God, I hope so.

If SWTOR attracts the WoW crowd like a porch light does with moths, then I just might be able to enjoy WoD: Online in peace (if CCP ever releases it, that is).

If SW:TOR get's the WoW crowd, I'll be disappointed. Been looking forward to playing it since it was announced. Oh well, I actually played WoW for a long period of time, so I can deal with it if need be.
