to open end the very last DLC or not?

Post » Mon Jun 27, 2011 9:08 pm

As I read these post. I have seen many posts that say open end the game. As you did in F03 and from what I have seen folks keep playing it. Then there are those who say don’t do it. It will do this or that. Just from my point of view I go by and run around in F03 all the time and still have a great time. I get to go to all places I did not get too or went thru so fast I missed a lot. I have come to love F03 more just for that reason. The point I see that all these folks that say don’t open end the game are missing is just what happened to F03. It just stopped no more add-ons, updates, patches etc. folks are still playing and loving it.
Yes I heard it was so they could make Vegas and all the DLC’s that go with it. But are you all missing the facts it will be the same as F03. The add-ons, patches etc will also stop. So I guess what I am getting to is why not let them open end it for all the rest of us? If you don’t want to replay it then don’t. I know after the last DLC patch etc comes out I will still want to play. I see the closed end folks bashing the other gamers like myself all the time when this is brought up. To me it’s just like a song on the radio that gets played over and over. Get a clue if you don’t like it change the channel. But there are a lot of us that will keep coming back time and time again. Just for the love of the game. Or if you want to look at it in a different light we paid for this game to play the game. What’s the big issue with wanting to run around after the last DLC comes out for it. All the hard work the game writers and programmers put into it at both sides Bethesda and others. Should not just be tossed aside and forgotten. I have seen all these talks about the fan base etc. hey get a clue fan bases are made up of all types of gamers with all kinds of likes and dislikes. But with one main thing in common the love of the game. So if the last DLC for this chapter of fallout comes out open ended. a lot of folks will be happy and for the others that are not. Just don’t play on how hard is that?. I myself can’t wait to see where they are going to take us with the next in the fallout story. Yes I will buy all of them too and while I am waiting for the DLC’s and patches ill go back and run around in the others. In closing all I am trying to say is we are all lovers of the fallout game. Some just like to keep the dream alive.

well, if you HAD read all the posts, you would have read how hard it is to have an open end with the numerous possibities each player experiences, multiplied by the different endings, hwho has which dlc, gamepacks, etc.

Broken Steel took a lot of flak for rendering the player's choices totally irrelevant. Particularly if the player decided to side with Eden.

And that's with Fallout 3, where there's only maybe two or three important choices. NV has many times more important choices.

Your english is kinda confusing me but anyway: Just reload a save prior to the final main quest, there is your free roam/open end.

I meant that "they" say its impossible.Look at all the trouble the are having just trying to integrate each dlc into the regular game.they would have to go back and reconfigure everything, which would take about a year.I played FO3 for 18 months before switching to FNV.I was still finding hidden areas, objects, etc. that weren't on the map.I loved it,and will go back. But they probably don't want a game to go on forever."They" want you to buy their next game the push of the conveyor belt.I for one am looking forward to rage hoping it is what everyone seems to have wanted in Fallout.

i was talking or ment after all the other things where done i understand what broken steel did and yes NV has way more i was leaning towards being able to just roam around rather then going back to a save point ? if that makes sense

I'm sure someone will probably make a realistic free-roam after battle of hoover dam mod sometime in the near future. If one person can do it, I don't see how the devs can't.

So you want a DLC or patch that just places you back in the wasteland after the main quest?

The only important question here is: Did the dinosaur eat the fish?

And then my friends ask me why I don't use a console...this...and the fact that console controllers are annoying as hell.

At which point, Obsidian will catch flak for being lazy and not showing people the consequences of their choices.

At least this way they satisfy those interested in a final ending with real repercussions.

Because if they released a simple freeroam patch, such a patch being literally ten minutes of work (and most of that wording a message box so it says "You can now roam the Mojave wasteland after the battle. Anything you do after this point will have no impact on the endings and is just for fun" with no ambiguity), they'd still get the same people whining about how they don't get to see the consequences of their actions.

Give them an inch, they'll take a mile. I've seen it before.

Meanwhile, by sticking to their guns, they earn the respect of a lot of us who either don't want or don't care about freeplay.

Besides, what, exactly, do you want to do after the battle? FNV isn't like FO3, most of the dungeons are related to quests. Quests which often affect the ending. There's not really much to go back to after beating the game. Just like FO2, where the freeplay was basically one big easter egg.

I could see the point if there were lots of dungeons to explore and raiders/muties to shoot ala FO3, but as it stands? Not really. Sure you can run mods to add dungeons (eg AWoP), but if you're running mods, you might as well just get a freeplay mod. As it stands, the only thing you'd get is Oliver's hat or Lanius' mask and sword.

There's absolutely no need to allow any gameplay after the final battle.

Would any quests even be availiable after the end?

As far as I was aware, apart from a very small number of side quests, almost all of them were tied to factions (And two factions can be eliminated, thus blocking off those quests) and influence the ending, hence they need to be done before ending.

Because they don't want to, tthhat should be enough of a reason, why force devs to do stuff they don't want, at's a recipe for a bad game.

i am on an 360 but i also have on the computer. i know on my comp they alrady have a mod out to free roam. but i will agree its not like F03 where there are things to chase down and alot of hidden places to go back to. NV has a whole did not or dose not have roaming raders and such . and the ones that are there are stuck in thier spots. this was more or less to see what folks thought on it. i must say there where some good points made but i think when the last DLC comes out we will have to wait for a new fallout to get made. so thanks for the post folks it is good to see

I am with darkman here, I absolutely love that I can go back to FO3 and roam around do random things and explore and mess with raiders and other re spawning NPC's. With New Vegas though they made most of these sides quests undo-able unless you restart and chose a different side, which to me seems like a cheap way to get players to play again :/ and while I would love another Broken Steel type DLC I do not think it would actually work in NV since you couldn't go back and finish quest's and quite frankly since its 99% desert there's no where to explore :/
