Opening console in game

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:50 pm

I have added the -console to the end of the short cut, however the ~ does not bring the console up in game. Am I missing something. And if it has already been posted elsewhere I apologize. My computer is running very slow on the forum boards for some reason.

Adding a parameter to the .exe's shortcut isn't necessary for Morrowind/TES4/FO3/FNV like it is for Dragon Age. Just make sure your FalloutPrefs.ini/Fallout.ini bAllowConsole line is set to 1 as it is by default.

Try not pressing Shift...

Spoiler
The console key is NOT tilde.
Tilde is NOT a key, it is a sub-function which is accessible by first pressing SHIFT followed by ` (Backwards apostrophe).

The console key IS the backwards apostrophe.

People need to get off this idea that tilde is a key, because many times the issue is people have a different keyboard. IE: the UK keyboard has tilde as a sub-function of a key on the right side of the keyboard, where as a US keyboard it is above the TAB key.

Remember. Sub-functions are not keys.

If you're on a laptop, make sure you have uninstalled Microsoft E-Home Infared Receiver in the Device Manager. For some odd reason, the console won't show up when that thing installed.
