My opinion on Rage

I completed the game twice got every achievement yesterday and thought I would give my opinion of the game.

I found the story itself interesting enough, it was like a cross between fallout and most other post apocalyptic games and movies.. the authority remind me a lot of the enclave in fallout crossed in with the mutants that have been enhanced, so many references to fallout itself, people say it's like borderlands and Bioshock aswell.. dont really see the reference there, since Borderlands is a poorly done carbon copy of fallout aswell story wise. As much as I enjoyed the story and the atmosphere around that surrounds the world in game, I didn't think it went anywhere really, there was no mastermind or puppet behind the authority it just seemed like a group of bad guys who were up to no good experimenting and trying to dicatate everything.. which doesn't make much sense really... I expected some bad guy behind the whole thing, or maybe that's where Rage 2 will follow on from.

I found the gameplay innovative as far as FPS games go, you aim at a mutant for a second or longer he swerves to the side or swings from the ceyling or jumps between the doorways, you aimt at someone with your sniper rifle he swerves and goes for cover, you hide too long they throw grenades at where you are, I dont know if other games have this type of gameplay, but for me it seemed new at least.. makes a change from silly point and shoot fps games like COD and adds new aspects to the game I find. Only thing that dissapointed me is how easy it is to blind fire at your enemies.. I found myself not even bothering to aim in near the end even on the toughest difficulty, it felt too easy and lacking in any form of accuracy.. just take wingsticks for example, I was one shotting the baddest toughest enemies I dont think that's a good thing, you would expect that the toughest enemies of the wasteland with their technology and such would have found some sort of defence against something as primitive as what is essentialy a glorified boomerang.

I was also extremely dissapointed there was no real FPS multiplayer, I know it has been mentioned enough on the forums.. but still it's a valid point. Why make an FPS game add a multiplayer element to it that is not FPS makes no sense to me. As much as I enjoyed the driving element of multiplayer at the end of the day it is just driving with weapons put on your vehichle and blowing other vehichles up.. I would love that there was vehichles and an fps side to the multiplayer but there is not sadly. And as soon as I got the achievements for that aspect of multiplayer I didn't play it again and dont think I have any urge to go back and play it.

I read some people asking for an FPS versus style multplayer aswell, but with the game in its current state I wouldn't even want them to make it, since it will be a dissapointment for reasons I have mentioned with the single player side of the game.. blind firing is far too easy it should be less accurate or do less damage since it's easy mode at the moment.. and the damage weapons do are not balenced for multiplayer in my opinion.

Overall I loved the game though and it was a surprise to see a game of a standard like this come out, since I didn't hear anything about it most of the year, I will buy Rage 2 and look forward to playing the DLC.

I agree with everything you just said, I may like some fps mp modes if they tweaked the damage and accuracy and limited wingsticks to being a special pick up an a small amount or maybe they could do some more bigger bad ass legends
