Other then Bethesda

If Rage was supported by another company such as EA instead of Bethesda. Do you think the game would have been a bigger hit due to EA being involved? It may seem bad to have said EA but I was thinking sales wise and popularity. It seems all game supported by million dollar companies are popular no matter what. Not saying Bethesda isn’t well known.

As a matter of fact, Bethesda isn't well known yet, at least when comparing to some other companies. It's certainly more known than 1C for example...

Anyway, the same engine would be used, therefore I don't think that it'd be any better. There are plenty of features, the only things are the storyline length and undetailed close-up textures. The former depends on the GDD (unless it's tremendously cut, but I doubt that), while the latter could possibly be of better quality.

I sould suppose it would also matter what maybe would have been cut or added if a different publisher was overseeing things.

On the PC side at least, Bethesda doesn't seem to popular amongst gamers.
Not sure that EA is seen any more favorably, though.

i def think the name Bethesda being on this game attracted a lot of the wrong kind of gamers

and i dont mean wrong as in bad or anything, im just sayin Bethesda is known mostly for their large open world rpgs and it might have put the wrong impression on this game which is why its gettin unnecessary backlash of people wanting it bigger and more sandbox style

the whole "open but guided" thing is really messing with people

Yeah, I think that is quite a reasonable guess, I'm actually gonna follow that. Perhaps if it had been released by simply id, like all the old stuff, then it would've experienced a lot less hate. What was the reason id allowed Bethesda to buy them, considering they have nothing in common? (Apart from developing games  )

Another thought: Most games that have big name companies behind them usually get rated high. Seems true when you look at it.

On a few occasions I've noticed that the Metacritic rating is BS. Won't prove it now, it's almost 3AM around here and I'm going to bed.

I don't think Bethesda's name negatively affected this game that much. A lot of people thought that this was going to be Fallout-esque and that was what turned most people off. But if this was EA I wouldn't have bought it so it would've had a different audience altogether I guess and it probably would've turned out the same just to a different audience.
