My gaming budget isn't exactly huge, but I make it work by buying games months or even years after release. There's really no incentive to pick up a title at release for $60 as opposed to waiting a bit. Most games not published by Activision tend to drop in price like crazy after a few months. Buying a game at release is something I reserve for only my most anticipated games or when there's a really good deal going (e.g. Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $35).
I'm also very picky about which games I actually buy period. I can't justify buying most shooters, sports/racing games, etc. and because I don't rent games I end up skipping 'em entirely. That giant list in the OP had been whittled down to what I think will be the best, most memorable titles releasing this year and I was left with maybe five games, two of which I'll be getting on day one. That's not gonna break the bank.
Edit- That's also coming from someone that owns a PC, PS3, 360, Wii, 3DS and PSP. If I owned fewer platforms then it wouldn't even be an issue.
