Out of character murder

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:11 am

Ever murdered an NPC out of character? My main is a reasonably good guy, he wouldn't attack or kill an innocent person. However I got so annoyed with the Housecarl in Solitude asking me if I was lost every time I walked in my front door I took her into the wilds and stuck a sword in her back...

Anyone done similar things to this, killing an NPC just to improve the game rather than as an RP thing?

Yes, once. But only because it was the only way to get to, and rid of the group persistently and incompetently trying to assassinate her.

I would not do it because it is against what my character would do.
I roleplay them and I will not do what they would not do, there would be no ponint in roleplaying.

Surely you could just take your housecarl out in the woods and murder them and pretend they got killed by a bear on a hunting trip, huh? :disguise:

I assumed this would be another DB start thread.

But no, I have never just killed anyone in the game unless they attacked me first or I was quested to do so.

Well I could I just would not.
I play these games differently than other games I play as my character and it is just more fun, at least for me anyways.

Sort of. I got a certain NPC to attack me just so I could kill her and get her cabin.

Pretty much what I did.

I'm the same Otheral, I try to play as if I was the character in the game. But that damn housecarl was so damn immersion breaking she had to go...

I can't stand that Jordis questions me like that when I enter the HOME I AM PROVIDING FOR HER! But she is far to cute to be taking out and killing...

For one, I'm still working on getting her and Sylgja to get "more acquainted" ;)

I killed Faendal because he was useless and I wanted to charge the Ebony Blade. I felt guilty and explained it away by saying 'jealousy for Camilla' and 'corrupting influence of the Daedra.' I then locked the Ebony Blade back underneath Dragonsreach and reverse pickpocketed the key onto Farengar.

Nazeem...

THIS! Every time he says that snotty, one-liner pvssyr piece (even though I'm a Thane!?), I make a save, find the most blunt object in my inventory that can be used as a weapon, kill him, and then beat his lifeless body until the town guard strike me down. Depending on how my day has been going, I may reload the save and do it once more, lol. Nazeem is officially my most hated NPC in Elder Scrolls history.

I only broke out of my pacifist character to destroy the dark brotherhood. It was worth it.

I just cannot kill them if my character would not, I would like the option to have the housecarl wait outside my door in the front of my house and guard that, what if I do not want some random person just randomly assigned to live in my house.

If your character had an issue with them or wanted to save the people then that would make sense.

When I moved into Honeyside with Brelyna, Iola or whatever her name is, was escorted to the back porch and helped on to the afterlife, of course this is not necessarily out of character for me!

There is no such thing as a murder being "out of character" for my current character.

Same with my current necromancer who wishes to become a vampire.

Every time I see a Stormcloak soldier I'm tempted to kill them, but since I haven't started the civil war quest the game considers it murder.

Killing for self defense is not murder...killing just because you can, is.

My character is a bit of a cut throat. Not inherently evil. More of an opportunist. A thief by trade I will steal from hunters and if I'm caught I wont hesitate to put them down.

Also I kill Thalmor on site. I usually take out the prisoner as well (after freeing him) so there are no witnesses.

I also take down nobles and their guards for the gems they are usually carrying.
