Out of things to do?

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 7:21 am

Welp, after about 70 hours of playing this game, I completed the Thieves Guild, Mage College, Dark Brotherhood, and Companions questlines, plus the main story questlines, am the thane of Solitude, Markarth, and Whiterun(Obviously), have collected all daedra artifacts I can, have all the dragon priests masks, and have liberated Skyrim from the Imperials.

So I was wondering, are there any other significant quests/questlines left, or any interesting/useful artifacts to collect(excluding the White Phial), or should I just re-roll and start anew? I'd really like to get the most out of all my characters, so if there is something I've missed, I'd really appreciate any suggestions for things I can do. =3

Thank you for your time!

(My character is level 48, btw)

Yeah, I'm sort of twiddling my thumbs, and any new character I create feels a bit like, "What's the point? I did that already."

And before someone says to fight for the empire/Imperial side, it's just a re-hash of the Stormcloak side, so no thanks.

Hoping Bethesda puts out some amazing expansions soon.

As far as I know that's pretty much all the main quest lines covered.

Other than hunting down all the rest of the shouts, getting every side quest you can, all that's left is the endless Miscellaneous quests. Which I personally think Bethesda may have been banking on extending the life cycle of the game-but that's just my supposition

Buy every house, explore caves, try to get all achievements, marry and divorce every person you can! Haha or kill them

By the galaxy...

I'm about 70 hours in and haven't done 1/10 the quest I imagine are in the game. Congrats on rushing through the game.

Elder Scrolls games are like fine wines and fine food. They're ment to be savoured and enjoyed, not scarfed down like a McDonald's Happy Meal.

Only suggestion I can offer you is wait until the CK comes out so you can get your hands on some mods. If you're on the console, add Skyrim to you paperweight stack.

This. It is a shame you rushed the game so hard. I feel bad for ya, at least there will be DLCs down the line.

CK is the answer. Out of quests? Write some, or wait for others to do so ;)

Personally, I tend to do no more than one guild questline per character... not interested in playing once my char is too high level, I prefer the leveling up process, so I'm happy with multiple restarts.

Play something else? I am not trolling here, 70 hours is great value in a game. I can play it for 100's of more hours, but that kind of thing isn't for everyone. If you are bored, there are always other entertainment options. And you can always come back to Skyrim whenever you wish.

Have you tried being a vampire yet? I take it you still have some quests in your quests page? how many quests have you completed? there will probably be over 200 quests in the game. have you found all 13 standing stones? how many locations have you discovered? think i read somewhere that there are over 500 locations in the game.

why not see how high a bounty you can get? i take it you did the bards college quests? have you got married yet? if playing on PS3 got platinum trophy? why not see how much money you can get? you found all the ninroots? killed paarthurnax? did the blades quests?

Explore a bit maybe? There's short one off quests that aren't too bad you can end up stumbling across and some of the dungeons are pretty pretty on their own (like the one with Sild the Warlock). Some dungeons also have miniature quests associated with them that start when you arrive - like assisting another adventurer in their task. In one barrow there's a pair of adventurers with a bit of a complicated history that plays out. In another you can help a local nord save his aunt and stop a necormancer from defiling his dead relatives. There's the trio of "forbidden legend" barrows (the smalled of one you've already certainly been to). And I do remember enjoying retreiving the Helm of Yngol - side quest from the shop owner in the "town" of winterhold.

There's an inn you can stay at where you'll meet the ghost of one of TIber Septem's (Talos) long dead soldiers. There's a headless horseman who will lead you to a dungeon and if you follow him to it the rewards are better. I'm guessing you stumbled across meridia's becon? That's a fun quest because well Meridia is kind of hilarious. The bard's college quest and follow up quests result in some pretty nice rewards; the follow up quests total I think more skill points than you get from the Discerning the Transmundane.

I guess you've explored Black Reach already and fought the hidden dragon there. Have you assisted one of the college mages with his dwemer experiment? It's also worth getting the mastery quests from the college once you've hit 90 in any of your casting skills.

My advice? Don't try to push yourself. I'm having pretty much the same feeling as well, even though I still haven't even touched some of the factions, and as such am weaning myself from the game for awhile until the feeling passes. The more you try to force yourself to play, the worse the feeling is going to get. So just take a break and come back in a week or longer. That usually fixes things for me.

Woah woah, back up for a sec. If I'm not mistaken, you just said there's a dragon on Blackreach? I guess I can try that. I can also try and see if I can somehow level enough to try a different build too... But goddamnit I hate blackreach. But yeah, thanks for the tip. I'm just gonna wander around a bit see what I can uncover.

I'll always welcome suggestions, though. =3

Dang son. I have completed the Thieves Guild and the Dark brotherhood. I am currently halfway through the companions. I haven't started the mages guild or the main quest line or the imperials/stormcloaks. I am thane of 2 cities (whiterun and markarth) and I have only recovered a handful of daedric artifacts...I do however have a blacksmith in my house in Markarth :hubbahubba:

*I have 120 hours played time and currently level 60. I however learned the lesson you are just now learning in Oblivion. I do have plans to start playing Morrowind once I have completed Skyrim (which will probably be another 200 hours down the road). I love a lot of what Morrowind brought to the table and believe it was the game that started them all. I am also reaching the point where the lore (and reading all the books) is extremely interesting to me. By the way, I read a lot of the books I pick up and my bookshelves are fully stocked. :celebration:

If you are coming to the forums for stuff to do I suggest starting another game honestly. Or of course wait for the construction set where you can start modding your own game to your liking. That is always a blast.

*ahem*

Steal all the potatoes you can get your hands on...all of them.

Then either fill a boat with them, or put them at the feet of all the Jarls.

....what?

....I'm not the only one who does this.

If you're playing on the PC there's a lot of fun you can have with the "placeatme" command. My personal favorite is spawning 6 dragons in markarth, 2-3 dwemer centurions, a couple giants (and using setscale to make them all different sizes - though it does confuse their animations somewhat) and making a couple of the town guard 30 feet tale with extra health and watching the hilarity. Spawning a swarm of dragons and scaling them down to to hummingbird size is also good for a laugh - espescially since when they're that small they get pinned in place by the arrows sticking out of them. Breath is still full sized though.

I don't know how you play, but if you fast travel a lot, maybe make a new character and avoid using that form of transportation. You may find some new surprises as you're running around and exploring. For example, after helping out Septimus tonight, I thought I'd walk along the frozen coast going from east to west. Along the way to Dawnstar I found a some things that made me smile. Here are a couple.

Spoiler
One was a camp, I believe it was just a tent, and in it were two bedrolls with a couple goblets, lots of flowers spread out and some candles. Fortunately there weren't any skeletons that I saw, so I assume it was some romantic location for a pair of love birds. I have to admit that the cold and blowing snow didn't seem too ideal, but I suppose some Nords wouldn't mind it as much.

At one point I was standing atop a glacier and noticed a flag that was waving in the distance. Not seeing any landmarks on my compass, I went to investigate. The flag turned out to be the spot where some unfortunate person met their end. A skeleton lay on the ground at the base of the flagpole, and one hand was still frozen to it.

Holy crap. I'm 84 hours in the game and haven't even finished half of the main content, let alone all these side quests, dungeons, and hours upon hours of screwing around and exploring random caves. Btw I found 5 cool masks from my adventures and I can't wait to see how many more I can find. They all seem to have a decent story behind them.
