So I was going towards my quest marker, and I have only been into this game for an hour maybe, and anyway, to the point: I run into a super mutant master, and 2 evolved centaurs... at level 3! My varmint rifle - after 2 shots to the head - took out one notch of health from the charging mutant. I had full health and it only took 3 swings of his super sledge to kill me. This seems a bit odd, is this supposed to happen, or am I just the unlucky bastard that runs into this?

just be careful where you go. A lot of people didn't like the leveled monsters, so the probably hand placed some higher level people, but just think of the rewards...... what loot are they hiding???

yes this is supposed to happen obsidian basically took out leveling system and I gotta say I kinda like the brake from it, if only it was toggleable

No easy mode Oblivion leveling, the wastes are dangerous this time around. A little advice, don't go north of Good Springs.

i like how theres a sense of danger when you walk out into the wasteland like except for 1 or 2 places in the FO 3 you knew what you were fighting

but it also creates a issue my favorite part of fallout is exploring and this kinda restricts it to recommending you to go to the next main quest and move from town to town as you go like its a mmo

Actually dude you went the wrong way, after the starter town you head to Primm from the roads. I know the exact spot your talking about because i ran into that at level 8 and almost got my [censored] handed to me, but that is definitely not the way your intended to go. Unless your the explorer type then you will probably go that way haha. Even with some more powerful weapons just the Super Mutant alone was insane until i threw down my frag mines and crippled it .

And i thought i was unlucky running into a mother deathclaw at lv6, 10 AP 5.56 rounds to the face and then it one hit me...
