Owning two houses

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:48 pm

Riften is the one that's given me the most trouble. Only one of my 3 characters has the house there. That one has all 5 houses. My first character has 4 houses, and my current character has 3. I have yet to go through the civil war with her.

My current PC character has Breezehome, Proudspire and a mod which creates a lair out in the wilds near riverrun. I'd like the lair the most but it seems to be a WIP mod and doesn't always work correctly. Early in the game I'd set up the manikin room there with a set of armor from every style of armor set that I'd found or made to that point. Then everything vanished. So instead of 60 something manikins all clothed and looking like lidia, they are all nvde all looking like Lidia. and they all seem to move because Beth cannot code for [censored] and manikins are "characters" instead of statues...

Once I lost all of my stored manikin gear at the lair I moved to proudspire permanatly.

I live in Markarth and let Lydia watch my house in Whiterun. She's always in the master bedroom sitting at the table anyways.

Same. I don't really see what's so great about her, I find her pretty boring.

Well my Breton lives in Vlindrel Hall, it just seems like a good fit for a poncy vampire. And Markarth's a nice neighborhood. Got a haunted houses, a dwemer ruin, & a forced labor camp all just down the street. And all those nice cannibal neighbors.
As for smacking my woman around, probably not. He's married to Borgakh the Steel Heart.
So, he's probably the one getting slapped around. I imagine Orcish love is rather painful sometimes.

Exact same reasons why I stay in Vlindrel Hall. I also pretend that House Carl is my magically distorted servant who I feed on whenever I see fit.

What level is your character? I believe (I can't recall for certain) you must be at least level 20 to even begin the process. Maybe not the first quest (Helping Hand), but I'm pretty sure that you need to be at least level 20 for the quest for Thane to move forward.

right now i'm at level 41. i tried talking to the jarl but she doesn't say anything useful towards purchasing a home so i'm not even sure how to become thane.

You get a bed and a chest in the Cistern. They even upgrade it to a fancy bed, with privacy screens, once you complete the main TG questline.

But yeah, Nightingale Hall is absolutely pointless.

Becoming Guild master I expected a bit more than just a bed from those thieves! Lots of people offered me a bed, and I did not have to go to all that trouble to get it. They could have at least given us that little room off to the side, or Mercer's old place Riftweald Manor.

Why not sort your stuff out? You get all the upgrades and become Thane you have something like 14 storage containers in Breezehome as well as the two bookshelves, weapon rack and the the three plaques on the walls. You want your smithy suit fast leave it in a sack near the door.

I own all the homes, but I use the Dovahkiin Hideout to display all my stuff. My homes are basically empty, I just bought them because I nothing else to do with all my gold.

Breezehome and Hjerim, Hjerim definitely the best house out of them all, still want to buy the one in Markarth (have a thing about Dwarven made structures).

Moving all of your stuff after buying a new one?? Raises hand.

Breezehome is basicly emptied as soon as I can afford Proudspire. This on a console kind of svcks however I have the (UFO) follower mod which allows me a slew of extra hands. Higher on all of Jorvasker, load them all down with stuff and move everything at once. Jorvasker: the moving company.

I own every house in the game but my favorite would either be the one in Markath or the one in solitude.

Hjerim for me and Aela but DAMN its got the ugliest housecarl... If someone can suggest a few console commands to either change his looks/ gender ( properly) or make another one take his place, you will have my infinite gratitude.

Proudspire Manor.

I reminds me so much of Rosethorn Hall back in Skingrad.

I've got all the houses but it's just a pain. I can never remember where i've put things.
Solitude was the biggest waste of coin, in my opinion anyway.

I have the same problem. I have all the houses, but I can't ever remember where I put stuff...even my wife. I married Camilla Valerius, the woman from the Golden Claw quest line. She is pretty awesome because when I get home, before I drop stuff into storage, I can sell items to her. On top of that, she has a dialogue option where you get a share of what her store has made. Well, anyways, I had most of my stuff in Breezehome, the house in Whiterun, and I went there to drop stuff off, and she wasn't there. I was pretty puzzled. I walked all over the house and she wasn't there. So I walked around town to see if by chance she ventured outside, nope. So after i did all that I needed to do, I went to my home in Solitude to get something and there sat my wife....I completely forgot that i told her to move...felt like a total doofus....

Hjerim, there's no better place for a true Stormcloak hero. I like the weather in Windhelm and it's a great city for adventurers since many ruins are nearby. I own the other houses, but I don't use them.
