And way to deal with the dragon priest without directly killing him and raising my kill count?

You could summon creatures to kil him, but I don't know if that raises your kill count, or you could have a follower to do the dirty work.

Yeah you could always conjure some beasts to kill him. You will need to conjure a bunch because Dragon Priests are usually tough so make sure you have a lot of mana

I'm about 90% sure summoned creatures raise your kill count. Morokei can also turn summoned creatures against you, dead or atronach.

@OP I don't think you can pickpocket him and you need the staff to progress the quest.

Are you not able to defend yourself? I know your a pacifist but that dosent mean you can't protect yourself. For all we know. You went there to ask for the staff but he just attacked you, witch he does.

What if I bring a follower down there, right before starting the fight tell him to part ways then pull the priest into battle, that would cause the ex follower to aggro at him and then I could spend the fight spamming healing hands and courage on him.since he's no longer under my command does that free me from the "follower kills something,it's my fault"rule?

That's a neat idea, I say save beforehand and give it a try!

As for the defending myself thing,I could but I prefer not to,more of a personal challenge thing...this whole char has gave that interesting factor back into skyrim...turns every encounter into a puzzle that I have to think through instead of hacking my way through.
My rules our
1.no killing my hands(I can lure enemy's into traps that they trigger them selfs, meaning no shooting down the hanging pots and no waiting till they get close to floor traps and shooting the trigger plate.they must walk over themselves
2.death means end of the save.
3.no fast traveling
4.only use robes
5.no enchanting

So this adds another level of dilemma to your character, much like life. Sometimes, if someone really wants to hurt you, no amount of avoidance will matter. You have to put up or get shut up. Besides, Morokei killed at least 3 people that we know of and enslaved 2 more. In the words of Gordon Lui as San Te in 36th Chamber of Shaolin, "Even Buddha punished evil."
