Pacifist / Goody Two Shoes Doctor Playthrough

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 7:18 pm

So is there a specific montage for no kills?

And do companion kills count? I don't have a problem with companions defending me at all, but would this prevent a specific ending?

Any tips on how to make it to level 30?

Obviously charisma and intelligence need crazy pointage, and I will pick from the following perks:

Black Widow (might play a chick for a change)
Cherchez La Femme
Retention
Swift Learner 1,2,3
Comprehension
Educated
Entomologist
Ferocious Loyalty
Animal Friend 1,2
Math Wrath
Miss Fortune
Mysterious Stranger
Nerd Rage
Fast Metabolism
Robotics Expert
Chemist
Chem Resistant
Computer Whiz

Cheers dudes and dudettes

Miss Fortune and Mysterious Stranger are going to be useless for you, and I dont know about Nerd Rage and Robotics Expert

I suggest you get a high sneak to get past those raiders and repair ED-E in Primm, let him do the killing. His kills don't count towards your kill count

That's a little like cheating isn't it? I mean, if your frenzied robot kills someone, you practically killed him. Anyway, you could think about using non-lethal weapons and ammo. (boxing gloves etc.) That'll knock people out instead of killing them.

then it's going to be impossible for you to complete some quests. Like Boone I forget to remember to forget quest. (you have to defend bitter springs from legion attack. Plus things like Primm don't you have to clear out the convicts if you want to do anything in town? So your going to have to get your companions to do your "necessary" killing and defence.

Enemies WILL come your way, no doubt about that.

So I would recommend getting the 'Travel Light' perk so you can outrun most characters, and have high Stealth.

If you don't mind Companions doing everything for you, go for 10 CHR. The higher your Charisma, the better your companions.

I thought miss fortune / mysterious stranger would be useful by popping into vats when my companions have weakened them.. If one of them appeared, it could give me a last chance to escape.

Also I like to RP so using boxing gloves / bean bags is something I don't think a goody two shoes doctor would do.

I think nerd rage is a good idea. Say I'm running away, and getting popped with bullets in my back, when my hp lowers enough I'll have added protection to keep running.

Robotics expert is surely good: shutting down robots? That's something my doc would do to get around them.

And I don't see it as cheating to use my charm to take on companions with more muscle to protect me. Probably not a pure pacifist but like I said, I RP so having a doc who employs muscle to protect them in the wastes sounds fine to me.

Yes charisma is important for companion nerve so will have that at 9 / 10.

I'm not bothered about not being able to complete all quests. I think these games are better when different characters complete different quests anyway.

What im really interested in is whether there is a specific ending for having a kill count of 0 and whether any companion kills count towards the, er, count.

Miss fortune and Mysterious stranger only appear in VATS when you shoot something and don't kill it. companions don't count. Plus your stuck in VATS watching them shoot what you didn't kill so you can't run away in the first place.

anyway, yeah, you can do everything fine with just letting companions take care of the enemies. I'm just saying you'll have an extremely hard time of it if both you don't kill anything and you refuse to let your companions to do any killing too.

Does knocking people out count?

Bean Bag rounds/Cattle Prod/Golden Gloves = KO and no damage

Yeah Ditch anything combat related. If you're stuck for other perks you may want to simply put in intense training and pump intelligence/charisma/luck or even endurance/agility. Speech, barter, science and medicine are the obvious ones.

You can avoid all combat but it's tough. The main quest has a no combat route through most factions, some side quests do not (some have minor combat, which companions can deal with but imo purposefully using companions to kill breaks pacifism).

It's possible but it isn't easy and enemies like cazadors/deathclaws are your nemeses.

When I play, i tend to just hide in a box somewhere, whilst Rex and Boone do all the killing. Its hard to avoid all combat but if you got a companion or two, they can easily take them out.

You will have to get 65 repair (or 55 science) pretty quick though to repair EDE. You can repair him even if you dont clear out Primm, you just need to sneak into the general store, which will requirer a high sneak skill. Then you can let him clear out the town for you.

You can also repair him with parts. You don't need repair or science skill.

My characters all typically start out similar to the 'pacifist' build style, however they do fight when necessary. I have not tried a 'no combat' playthrough yet, although I typically try to avoid fighting whenever possible as I tend to level my combat skills last.

If you really don't want to kill anyone/anything, then get Rex and a good human companion, then set your Charisma to 10 and get the Ferocious Loyalty perk. Your companions will become killing machines, allowing you to just follow behind them and hit them with stimpacks when needed.
